How Haptic Tech and Interpretation Help Deaf People Enjoy Music
Our producers Ryan and Katerina reported on what makes a show or concert accessible to the deaf community and they talk to Shelley Guy, a director of Community Engagement and Events Coordinator and the Director of Artistic Sign Language for Body Language Productions about her own use of haptic tech.
She is also a performer and a deaf interpreter who works very closely with the non-profit organization "Up Until Now Collective." She is joined by interpreter Brandon Kazen-Maddox.

Frida, The Musical
Frida Kahlo's signature flower crown, bold unibrow, and brightly colored dress have become cultural shorthand for third wave feminism. Her life, at times turbulent and painful, has been depicted dramatically in movies and on television.
Now, a new Broadway musical about her life, currently in development and planned to debut in 2024, aims to show a different side of the Mexican artist. The show is based on the book "Intimate Frida," written by her niece Isolda P. Kahlo, as well as personal conversations with her family in Mexico.

A year ago, Afghanistan fell under Taliban control after U.S. forces withdrew. Democracy failed after two decades of war in Afghanistan.
As the entire world watched, Afghans raced to escape the country, risking their safety and lives.
Amnesty International reports that since the withdrawal, the lives of Afghan women and girls are being destroyed by the Taliban’s “egregious” human rights violations. The report details the ways that women’s and girls’ rights to education, free movement, and work have all been violated.
