The New York Times called it “the sandwich southerners wait for all year” According to Tasting Table, the Virginia Chronicle is “widely credited” with the first mention of the sandwich in 1911. According to Gwinnett Magazine, the Chronicle reported a man describing his lunch as “a tomato sandwich, a slice of watermelon, iced tea, and a slice of coconut cream pie”. Back then Bootsy was just a simple farmer. But he took one look at all of those mauve ti***es and he lost his mind. He began to milk the Funk. Made himself a frothy Funk shake. Began to feel fizzy inside. He found he could see ‘round corners. Suddenly, he passed out. But when he came to, baby, he was slapping a bass guitar fast and loose like some kind of delirious, funky priest.

“It turns out it’s not an anomaly. Often, a flowering carrot is a sign that the plant has bolted and will not be good to eat. Flowering carrots will grow every so often after a batch of seeds is planted for a few reasons. One is because of premature warm weather. Warm weather will trick the plant into putting energy into the flower rather than the root, causing white flowers and an inedible carrot. Flowering carrots can also occur if they are left in the ground over winter and a mild spring follows, as this confuses the plant on its life cycle.”
