Congratulations to our May Louisiana , Dr. Angelle Bradford, for graduating from Tulane with her doctorate in biomedical sciences! While completing all her studies, Angelle has led the Louisiana Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a gun violence prevention organization, as well as advised for Sierra Club Student Coalitions and youth climate organizers in Louisiana, per her role with the Sierra Club - Delta Chapter (Louisiana). This year she was president of the Bio Medical Sciences Student Association with a goal of tackling concerns around equity & diversity and making healthcare more accessible to students. This week she’s also celebrating a birthday with her twin sister, Kaitlyn Joshua, who was last month’s OOTM awardee, so activism and organizing really does run in the family!
Bonus! Randal L. Gaines, new chair of the Louisiana Democratic Party, talks about his initial plans for rebuilding & rehabbing the organization. Available on major podcast apps & our website.

Gratitude to Kaitlyn Joshua, our April , for her advocacy around Black maternal health. She’s been working to help other women and families by sharing her traumatic experience navigating Louisiana’s reproductive healthcare system with a national audience. Through telling her personal story on the trail with the Biden-Harris campaign and speaking out in a Black Maternal Health Week feature in Ebony Magazine, she’s truly offering a first hand account of what life is like for so many women - and Black women in particular - in our state post-Roe. Born and raised in Louisiana, she fights to make her home state more just and equitable for all, as well as a safe place for her own children to grow up and thrive. Her bravery and generosity in this mission is an extension of the community and faith-based organizing she’s been engaged in for years through Step Up Louisiana and the Power Coalition. Thank you for all you do for Louisiana, Kaitlyn!
Big thanks to Travis Dardar, our , for his ongoing community organizing, and in particular his recent work to get the Biden administration to pause approving decisions on LNG exports so that the Department of Energy can review its standards for those approvals. We see you and we love you, Travis!
Thank you for your support, Dr. Shawn Wilson!
“Today is Election Day! Everyone registered can have their votes counted.
Elections really do have consequences. Louisiana Democrats have an opportunity for a fresh start. Blue Reboot has a slate of candidates who are ready to put in the work to rebuild our party.
The current party leader failed us in the last election. It’s time to elect leadership that reflects the voters of this state — and a chair who won’t put personal ambition ahead of the people they are elected to serve.
The polls are open now until 8:00 PM. Please... Go Vote!“

Our closing Louisiana for 2023 is India Reed! India is born and raised in New Orleans and has been a registered nurse in the city for twelve years. In November we are grateful for Organizers! Today we celebrate Kristen Luchsinger. Kristen is a founding member and current board member of the St Tammany Library Alliance, which has been recently recognized for being a model anti-censorship organization nation-wide. Every activist in St. Tammany knows Kristen because she is seemingly everywhere in the parish at once. Kristen campaigned for Katie Darling for Louisiana for Congress, in addition to many other Democratic candidates, is an active supporter of women’s rights and the BLM movement, and is one of Q***r Northshore’s fiercest allies. She’s helped organize multiple events, including Women’s Marches in New Orleans and Covington, a vigil for Ruth Bader Ginsberg, a courthouse protest against Trump, rallies for Black Lives Matter, for LGBTQ+ rights, and against book bans, as well as parades for Pride and Juneteenth. She works full time at her salon and is currently in school, but she's still giving her all every day to make our state more inclusive. Thank you for all you do for Louisiana, Kristen!
