This is going to be an adventure. One that I’m not really sure I’m prepared for, but I’m just gonna grab ahold and hang on. Let’s see what happens! This is a difficult life we’re all living right now. Family and friends are passing on. Seems like everybody is either left or right. Guess you can’t be somewhere in the middle anymore. We’re just not promised tomorrow. So I made a decision… I’ve been putting this off until the “right time” for far too long now. If I don’t do it now, maybe I won’t ever. So here we go!
I love country music. I always have. I always will. I remember playing little league baseball when I was a kid back in the early 90’s. There was a kid on my team (I won’t mention his name, but I remember!) who, at every game would ask me to sing a little of that song I liked so much… “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” by Alan Jackson. I guess that Mississippi twang was still right strong for a boy now living in New Orleans. He would always laugh. Not in a mean ‘haha you sound stupid’ kinda way. It was a joyous laugh. I don’t know if he listens to country music nowadays or not, but I sure did love to and I loved to give someone else the opportunity to hear and learn something about something that was non-existent in their world. Or maybe I just like telling stories about stuff I like. So that’s what I plan to do here.
Here are 10 songs to get you started. Some are my all time favorites. Some are one’s I’ve stumbled across recently. Some are just fun. I’ll try to include a little nugget about each one. I’ll post a YouTube link and of course they’re already added to the Apple Music, Spotify, and Pandora playlists. I truly hope I can shed some light on a beautiful genre of music.
