After two hours of sentencing testimony, Associate Circuit Judge Mark Brinkmann sentenced a downtown building owner to 90 days in jail due to the hazardous condition of his property. The sentence includes a 10-month Suspended Ex*****on of Sentence (SES), contingent on the owner completing all necessary repairs. This sentencing comes just weeks after a fire in downtown Hermann costs local firefighters an estimated $100,000 to contain the spread to other local businesses, with 13 departments coming to the aid of the Hermann Fire Department.

A major route between New Haven and Gerald is now back open after replacement of the bridge over Cedar Creek. The $1.5 million project was completed as scheduled to replace the 76 year old bridge. The bridge is on Hwy Y, just south of the intersection with Hwy YY.

Missouri River Relief (MRR) is hosting a large-scale trash cleanup on the Missouri River along a 10-mile stretch using volunteers from around the region. The event will be headquartered at the New Haven River Access..

Registration for the cleanup event is full. There will be nearly 150 volunteers joining in on the effort.

On Saturday, October 19th, the pre-registered volunteers will begin sign-in starting at 8:45 a.m. and then board boats at the New Haven River Access starting at 9:00 a.m. Volunteers will be ferried to pre-scouted locations along the riverbanks to pick up flood debris and improperly disposed of trash that has made its way downstream

The cleanup runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Motorboats will be operated by Missouri River Relief’s experienced boat captains and operators from the Missouri Department of Conservation and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
