History

It occurred to me while I read through some of your comments yesterday that almost no one knows the history of my studio, and specifically, how it got it’s name: Ned’s Place. It was back around 1991 that this little guy (above) started showing up at my apartment door and sleeping on the stoop out front. After a few days of that, along with some play time and well, .. okay, maybe I did give him some food from time to time... anyway, he had captured my heart so I took him to the vet, got him cleaned up and named him “Ned”.. That name came from some TV character long ago that used to say ‘Well goooolllllyyy Ned!!” ... maybe Barney Fife or Gomer Pyle... anyway the name stuck and so did he.

Then in 1992 I bought the house and set up the studio and started recording. Ned found himself a place under my desk and stayed with me day after day. If I was in the studio for 8 hours, Ned was in the studio for 8 hours so it naturally became Ned’s “place”. Ned has contributed sound effects and vocals to a few recordings over the years as you can imagine! He went to the big puppy farm in the sky in 2005 but I decided to keep the name and I suppose there’s no reason to change it now.

So, when you call to book the studio or to just visit... don’t ask for Ned. He’s not taking calls ... but I am!
