On Tuesday, July 2nd, at approximately 10PM, the Sheffield Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Wilson Dam Avenue for a possible su***de.

When officers arrived, they found Tommy Ray Burcham 43, of Tuscumbia, lying face down in the grass in an open field across from the residence with two gunshot wounds from a .44 caliber handgun that was found nearby.

During further investigation, officers were notified of another gunshot victim inside the residence. Officers found Raleigh Samuel Lemaster 34, of Sheffield, deceased from a single gunshot wound from an AR rifle that was found under a box fan inside the home.

NEWS ALERT 🚨 TUSCUMBIA

AUTHORITIES ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER AT HOME IN RURAL COLBERT COUNTY

On Monday, July 1, 2024, at around 1:30 pm, Colbert County Sheriff's Office Special Response Unit, along with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force with the United States Marshal Service, arrested Nicholas Pierre Boudoin, 28, of Florence Alabama at a home on Little Egypt Road. This according to Colbert County Sheriff Eric Balentine.

Boudoin was arrested on the charges of Kidnapping 2nd Degree, Robbery 3rd degree, Domestic Violence Strangulation, and Theft of Property 3rd degree. His arrest followed a lengthy investigation into an incident that occurred in March 2024.

Boudoin eluded police on foot at NAL in Muscle Shoals back in August of 2022. He was later arrested in Walker County by the FBI Fugitive Task Force, Florence Police, and the Walker County Sheriff’s Department, for charges in Lauderdale County in September of 2022.

The Lauderdale County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion on Monday to impose a suspended sentence from a domestic violence charge he pleaded guilty to in 2022. He has 36 months left to serve on that charge where he was sentenced to a split sentence of 48 months with 36 months suspended.

Boudoin is set to be arraigned in Colbert County Circuit Court on September 5. He is being held in the Colbert County Jail on a $42,500 CASH bond.

Also, Shaylon Pace, 35, of Tuscumbia was arrested with Boudoin for obstructing governmental operations. She was released from the Colbert County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Sheriff Balentine said he would like to thank the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force with the United States Marshal Service for their assistance in the investigation.

JUDGE RULES FOR PRINCIPAL MELCHA SATCHEL

Colbert County Circuit Judge Mitchell Hays ruled on Thursday in favor of plaintiff Melcha Satchel, who appealed his termination from the the principals position at Colbert County High School.

Satchel requested an expedited evidentiary hearing to see if his contract was properly cancelled by the Colbert County Board of Education. This according to courthouse records.

There was a trial on Monday that lasted from 8:30 am until 5:30 pm in Judge Hay’s courtroom on the matter. Hays said on Monday he would take the matter under advisement and issued the order on Thursday ruling in favor of Satchel.

Judge Hays said in his order that the Colbert County Board of Education failed to provide Satchel proper notice and that the board failed to show a willful violation of policy by Mr. Satchel.

The Board of Education can appeal the ruling. This ruling overturns the school board’s termination of Satchel.

Below is a copy of the ruling.
