Celebrating Hip-Hop’s 50th Birthday. The art movement that sprang out of The Bronx, later to Queens and eventually ALL CITY. The art form initially a fusion of 4 elements: MCing/rap, DJing/scratching turntables, break dancing, and graffiti art. These are my collection highlights and favorites. All albums I think contributed to the progression of Hip-Hop more as an art form than a commercial enterprise. There’s still a long way to go regarding artists getting their Masters, and proper back end. But I think as we go forward, and sample, remix and mashup culture remains viable, we’ll hopefully see more artists work to own their destinies.
