Yesterday we celebrated the team that won a student Emmy for their report SAN FRANCISCO: ON THE EDGE with a backyard BBQ at Parkway. We couldn’t be prouder of this team and the work they’re done.

A madcap game of musical chairs broke out and there was a lot of laughter and fun.

It’s the fourth such award in recent years (Puerto Rico, New Orleans & Arizona) and our program is beating some big name schools across the country. Onward!

35 years ago today FDNY’s Rescue 1 pulled off a double rope rescue and saved two men from a fire in midtown Manhattan.

I met then Lt Paddy Brown covering that story. He was the officer in charge that day. In the photo he’s on the ledge directing the operation.

We became friends and then I did a Dateline story in 1995 about him comforting a family of a fallen fellow firefighter. Eventually I would go on to make a film about him after we lost him on 9/11.

Privileged to spend last week near Houston filming my pal, Sgt Eddie Wright (Ret. USMC), move into his new home, which was provided by the Gary Sinese Foundation.

I met Eddie 22 years ago at Walter Reed Medical Center in Wash DC. I was filming a PBS special. Eddie lost both hands when the heavy machine gun he was holding was hit by a rocket propelled gr***de in Falluja, Iraq. We became friends and stayed in touch.

I got to meet his “band of brothers” - fellow Marines who were there at that battle. Eddie and his fellow Marines are patriots and the best people you’ll ever meet.

On The Road again! A week in Washington DC with Montclair State U student journalists. The magazine show will be called “Washington DC: We The People” and will include stories on a 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence , homelessness, youth violence, the state of journalism and others.

It was a great week with a really good crew.

This week - 43 years and four generations of fun and family at Mont Ste Anne north of Quebec City. It all started when 2 New York guys played tennis with 2 young Quebec ladies in 1955. This annual trip keeps the families connected and teaches each generation about this beautiful culture and how to ski!

His Secret Service code name was “Thunder.” It was 1984 and Rev. Jesse Jackson was the first African American to run a major, nationwide campaign. America’s reaction? It was caught here on the face of my niece Katie! (photo taken after a Face The Nation broadcast)

It was my first presidential campaign and covering “The Rev” was exciting and fun. He was a class act who showed respect for all - even a young associate producer.

100 years young! Marie Moloney (Nee Dullea) turns 100 surrounded by three generations of family.

She is my mother’s sister and our families grew up together in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Our dad’s were NYPD and our lives were centered around Our Lady of Angels church and our Irish immigrant grandparents.

Marie has always been full of faith and fun! Happy birthday beautiful!!❤️❤️❤️
