Walk for water: A group of citizens from around the Mon Valley marched from the Authority of the Borough of Charleroi to the Charleroi Borough Building to protest ahead of the Charleroi Council meeting tonight. The group is protesting any actions involving the dissolution of the authority by council. VIDEO: Former Elrama power plant imploded The former Elrama Duquesne Light Power Station in Elrama was imploded shortly after 9:30 this morning after being out of use since 2012. MVI Staff Writer Taylor Brown and photographer Jeff Helsel were there to watch it happen. B&B Wrecking and Excavating, based in Cleveland, Ohio, gave the heads up this time that more demolition would start Friday at 9:30 a.m. The demolition is happening in phases. A large group of bystanders watched as the plant was imploded, but quickly left as large black clouds of dust filled the air. Read more about it in tomorrow's edition of the Mon Valley Independent.

ABR Host Luis Rivera took a spot on the line with owner George Apodiakos and Executive Chef Jamie Kepich before trying some of their most requested dishes. Good Friday observance in Monongahela The Rev. Kevin Dominik of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish led parishioners through Monongahela shortly after noon today for the Stations of the Cross before a Good Friday service. The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Way of the Cross or Via Crucis, commemorate Jesus's passion and death on the cross. There are 14 stations that each depict a moment on his journey to Calvary, usually through sacred art, prayers and reflections. See more in tomorrow's Mon Valley Independent.
