Let's talk about why this social media trend is so special.
'Certified Lover Boy' by Drake dropped only a few days ago, but the cover art had been released a couple of days prior. Most fans (including myself) thought the art was a joke because the original art was favored over the emoji art. However, Drake kept the cover that had received a lot of criticism the days before.
The album did some great numbers of course (it's Drake, duh), but most people were still talking about the album cover. At first, a few influencers and brands had decided to put their own twist on the cover art, mostly in a satirical, humorous tone. As the concept began to get more and more attention, major brands began using the trend to promote their own products.
The reason this trend is so special is because it's one of the easiest to participate in and allows you to put emphasis on who you are as a brand with the copy "Certified ______ Boy" and replacing the emojis with your logo, product, etc. Anyone can do it. It's simple and makes sense to anyone keeping up with pop culture.
