This is Fat Bastard (yes named after the character in Austin Powers). He and I have a long, sordid history. I once rescued a fly from his web. He saw me do it, then proceeded to give me the stink eye with all 8 of his eyes every time I’d go to the basement until one day he just disappeared. After several months I was certain I’d seen the last of Fat Bastard… but lo and behold, on a voyage to do a load of laundry, who do I see hanging from the ceiling but my pudgy grudge-holding frenemy… Welcome back, Fat Bastard… may you next meal happen out of my sight 🕷️

Hello! I am Melissa Oliveri, author and host of The Skylark Bell podcast. I also compose and perform music (including all the podcast music) as Cannelle .music

I am Canadian (from Québec and Ontario) but have been living in Minneapolis MN (USA) since 2006.

I am pouring my heart and soul into this podcast, which is based on a trilogy of 3 novels I wrote. We are now partway through the 3rd and final book - so lots of good binge-listening to be had if you haven’t started yet! I promise there’s nothing out there quite like it!

I also love to include bonus episodes that range from real life paranormal experiences to short spooky fiction and various collaborations.

I had the pleasure of being invited to talk about some of my unexplained experiences on podcast recently… During the conversation I told the story of Jack’s Room, which was the very first Fantôme Friday story in Season 1 of The Skylark Bell. On my recent trip to Canada we drive by the house where Jack’s Room is located… and we got a perfectly creepy, blustery, grey, rainy day to set the mood.
