Yesterday's shooting in Robbinsdale resulted in a fatality.

Shortly after 5 PM on Monday, December 2nd, officers from the Robbinsdale Police Department responded to the area of Lowry Avenue and Indiana Avenue on the report of the sound of shots fired. While in route, officers were advised of a crash detection from a cell phone in that area.

Officers arrived and located a single car crash. Officers made contact with the vehicle and located an adult male sitting in the driver seat suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered life-saving aid. The victim was transported to North Memorial Health Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The victim is believed to be in his 20s.

The Robbinsdale Police detectives are on scene and are working with the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators to collect evidence.

Preliminary investigation indicates that this is not a random crime and there is not any known threat to public safety.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.

This is the first homicide in Robbinsdale in 2024.
