What is photo scanning resolution, and what resolution do I need for my photos?

Scanning resolution refers to the amount of detail or information captured by a scanner when converting a physical document or image into a digital format. At DittoBee, we use three different resolution thresholds. Below we present their advantages and disadvantages: following are the advantages and disadvantages:
1. 300dpi:
Advantages:
* It's a common and standard resolution for most documents and images, suitable for printing, emailing, and archiving.
* It's a faster scanning process as it captures fewer details.
Disadvantages:
* It may not be suitable for high-quality printing or enlargements, as the resolution is not high enough to capture fine details.
* Scanning at 300dpi may result in some loss of detail in small fonts or images.
2. 600dpi:
3. Advantages:
* It's a higher resolution than 300dpi and can capture more details and finer lines, making it suitable for scanning documents that require more accuracy and precision.
* It's better suited for enlargements or printing larger copies.
Disadvantages:
* Scanning at 600dpi can take more time and require more storage space for the resulting files. Hence, a slight increase in pricing applies to photos scanned at this resolution.
* It may not be necessary for all documents or images, and scanning at this resolution may result in larger file sizes without much added benefit.
3. 1200dpi:

* It's the highest resolution commonly used for scanning, providing the most detail and clarity.
* It's ideal for scanning small documents or images with fine details, such as old photographs or drawings.
Disadvantages:
* Scanning at 1200dpi can be very time-consuming and require a lot of storage space for the resulting files. As such, this is the option that adds more to the scanning cost, but it yields the most quality on your scans.
