And so it is that the recent release of the 2021 edition of the Official Guide to the City of Marlborough marks a transition here at the Main Street Journal since we will no longer be producing the family of publications we have been publishing for nearly twenty five years.

Among the best of the best - Karen Buckley, a longtime nurse at Marlborough Hospital, was recently honored with the Daisy Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at the hospital. She is Marlborough Hospital’s first ever recipient of this prestigious honor. During the award ceremony at the hospital, Director of Medical Surgical Services Annmarie McKinley summed up Buckley’s career this way, "As a nurse, Karen is the person we would want to care for those we care most about. There is no way to quantify the number of lives Karen has impacted, and the amount of people who hold her in the highest regard.”

Luiz Thomas grew up in Brazil, the son of a black minister and a white teacher. He moved to the United States with his wife in 2007. The example of hard work, faith, and family ties that his parents provided served as a foundation that ultimately led to a successful commercial cleaning business startup, Modular Concepts in Marlborough. While his American dream has become a reality, there is another dream that passed him by. "As with every Brazilian boy, my dream was to be a professional soccer player,” he said. "Although I had some talent, that dream never came to pass, for I was always working or studying.”
