Severe thunderstorms enter the mountains. Will they make it off of The Blue Ridge?

Radar at 11:08 am is showing the western edge of rain now reaching the Blue Ridge escarpment. Bands of heaviest rain are still producing at 1-2 inch per hour rates. This will continue through early afternoon before pivoting back to the northeast later in the day #Debby

Our lead forecaster, Daniel Crawley has an update on #Debby from The Grand Strand. That part of South Carolina has fared fairly well in terms of the flooding threat so far but winds are gusting to tropical storm force.

Our lead forecaster Daniel Crawley continues to update us on happenings down in the Grand Strand. Just over two inches has been reported in North Myrtle Beach, amounts are higher (4+ inches) on the South Strand near Garden City. Wind gusts today have been consistent 25-35 mph.

Our lead forecaster Daniel Crawley is down on the coast while #Debby slowly moves northeast. He is located in North Myrtle Beach SC which is between rain bands at this time. Current wind gusts at North Myrtle Beach are reaching 35 mph.

Thunderstorms back in East Tennessee are making a run toward WNC late this evening. Kevin Tyler caught the action on video off to his west.

Sunset at Lake James

Sunset at Lake James Check out the evening sunset at Lake James from the comfort of your living room.

It's been fairly quiet today but guidance changes that late tonight as numerous showers and thunderstorms will move through the region. This radar simulation is from 8 pm Wed until 3 pm Thurs.

Radar at 2:41 pm indicates shower activity along the escarpment and storms over Charlotte Metro. Additional cells will develop for the rest of the afternoon.

A band of heavy rain showers at 9:48 pm is moving northeast. Locations from Northern Rutherford County to Western Caldwell County will see some heavy rain over the next hour or more.
