Each segment is crafted from the ground up, beginning with the production schedule, video shoots, collection of footage and stills straight through to the editing process and final master. All interviews are converted to accurate transcriptions that go to our writing team. Storyboards guide the overall design and finished product.

Inspired by the CNN Decades Series produced by Tom Hanks, this moving segment highlights the giants of the "golden era" in ophthalmology with rich historical imagery of those whose work continues to restore sight to countless millions and inspire the research that will ensure sight for humanity. We are grateful to ASCRS for its unfettered support of our creative team. The Carlin Company is proud to present the 22nd opening of the ASCRS Ophthalmology Hall of Fame ceremony in Washington, DC. Each year ASCRS recognizes one living and one posthumous inductee. This year it included Dr. George Spaeth of Wills Eye Institute, and Dr. Roger Steinert, past president and program chair. Our work in ophthalmic history continues as we honor those greats in the field on whose shoulders we stand.

The Carlin Company has been the producer of the ASCRS Ophthalmology Hall of Fame for more than 20 years. This week we have lost one of its members Dr. Alan Scott, inventor of Botox originally developed by Alan for ophthalmic purposes. We were honored to tell his story with a full interview shot in San Francisco on a quiet Saturday afternoon in his offices. Alan was totally generous with his brilliant research and will be missed.

Alan Brown Scott, was an ophthalmologist specializing in eye muscles and their disorders, such as strabismus. He is best known for his work in developing and manufacturing the drug that became known as Botox, research described as "groundbreaking" by the ASCRS.
