“Follow your passion” is common advice. But the rub is not everyone is connected with their passion. Not everyone knows what makes their heart sing. Not everyone is in touch with their story and what makes it unique.

Sometimes it’s just a process of asking the right questions to open up your why. Where you find meaning, what acts give back, even if it’s hard. Not everyone has a deep passion and that’s okay. I grew up waterskiing, one summer at Lake Powell, I heard my friend say to his son who was playing it safe on the wake board, “if you’re not falling down, you’re not trying hard enough.”🙌🏻

And it hit me, how often I play it safe for fear of falling, literally in skiing and tear my ACL, 8 months of physical therapy.
Or in life. With my business.
Playing a bigger game means stretching beyond your comfort zone, taking risks, and embracing the unknown. It requires a willingness to face discomfort and uncertainty, to try new things and take bold action towards your goals.⚡⚡

Being on camera creates butterflies in more people than you might imagine. We get it. Most of us don’t like being on camera either.
That gives us empathy, we know what we are asking you to do might be anxiety provoking. That’s our secret sauce, to hold your hand and help you forget there is even a camera.

The best conversations are born from authentic connections. We want it to feel like you are sharing a cup of tea with a friend, capturing the passion and purpose behind the brand. Why you do what you do.

So, here are some of our best practices.

1. Don’t overthink it.
2. Speak from the heart. Don’t over rehearse, in fact don’t rehearse at.
3. Get out of your head and into your body. Whatever your ritual is to get in the zone, do that. For some it’s running, others meditation, yoga, dance, singing. You do you.

When I launched StoryInc, I said yes to everything and everyone, anything to bring in cash flow. I thought we needed to be everything to everyone.
My team and I were tossed all over the place, at times taking on projects that weren’t the best fit. It wasn’t working. It took some coaching, I had to learn to say “that project isn’t for us but I’ll be happy to refer you”. 🙌🏻

By saying "no" to opportunities that don't align with your values, you can feel solid and grounded in how you choose to spend your time.
Vocalizing a "no" isn't always easy. It’s challenging to turn down projects or disappoint others. It’s important to remember, saying "no" is a form of self-care and self-preservation. It’s important to prioritize you and your team’s needs and well-being.✨

And our world changed.
Saying no to that one off project over there, opened up a yes for the clients looking to collaborate long term.🤩

Living out loud is a phrase that refers to embracing your authentic self and being unapologetically true to who you are. 😊

Even if you are afraid to express your thoughts, feelings, and ideas, you feel the fear and do it anyway. It demonstrates your willingness to take risks and be vulnerable in order to live the life you desire.
Living fully self-expressed invites a natural confidence in your own skin, and not searching outward for external validation. 🙌🏻
