Some people says the 70s were the golden era of (home audio). I happen to think the teens are the golden, platinum, silver, and plastic era of audio! I've been picking up random lots of old audio gear, going through them, and separating the gems from the junk. It's hit or miss, but I do appreciate the old 70s silver face aesthetic.

This is a Kenwood KR-26 receiver, an entry level receiver from the 70s. Even so, I love cleanness of the design. The inside looks pretty cool. It sounds quite good, kind of "warm" which is not necessarily what you want from an amp, but it has a definite "thing". Another aspect of the 70s receivers is that they had (usually) nice loudness features, push in that button, and your ready to rock!

The results of my first speaker refoam job! I feel inordinately proud of what is at most a modest accomplishment, but they sound excellent. These are Mirage 350's a midline bookshelf speaker from the 80s. For Madison folks, there were originally purchased by Mayor Dave from Happy Medium on State Street...

Behind the scenes pictures from the making of Leo Sidran's high-tech new video for "Here Comes 15 Minutes", which will show Leo playing all the instruments simultaneously. The audio for the song was being recorded at the same time, which allows for actual takes to be used in the video. Very cool. And 56 takes later (!), the tune is its still very cool too. Director Leo J Gilbert and DP Peter Gilbert transformed DNA into a magical video set, and minded all the pieces of this multi-dimensional puzzle. We can't wait to see the final cut!
