Today is Jamie’s birthday! She is the brains AND beauty behind nearly all aspects of Slye Films. She’s an incredible human and deserves all the credit in the world. I’m so glad I persuaded her to marry me years ago. Please join me in wishing her a very happy birthday! - Andy

Combining the work I love with the people I love is just the icing on the cake.

Kelsey and Peyton, you were a dream. The constant giggles, amazing punch lines, the willingness to be out in that ridiculous humidity to do lifts and walks and sweaty cuddles...we truly could not have asked for better.

But my favorite moment was watching you two serve your family and friends Communion at your ceremony. Because above all, your hearts are full and golden and you love your people so much. I hope you feel that love poured back to you for years and years.

Enjoy, lovebirds. We love you.

We’re here to film weddings and eat cake.

And we’re all out of cake.

It all started as most successful things do — with a 5:40am email.

This film has me channeling the energy of a Will Ferrell movie because I now want to quote EVERYTHING.

From ICE — not the carbonated kind—to Scott’s spicy Italian pasta and the *slightly* overpriced dress Kelsey’s dad finally came to terms with, these two had an absolute dream of a wedding.

I’ve already called dibs on the next sibling. ;)

Enjoy, lovebirds!

Peyton and Kelsey, you make this job too easy.

Constant giggles, the most fun portraits, and one heck of a dance party.

I couldn’t be happier for my sweet cuz and his gorgeous bride.

“Thank you for loving me with your compassionate, honest and genuine heart.”

Rilyn and Brock's gorgeous day was filled with the most genuine smiles, adorable hype girls, gorgeous florals with a sultry twist, and incredible details around every corner. WE ARE NOT WORTHY.

We can’t wait for the full film (I mean movie trailer?) featuring these two stunners.

So many told us that with a baby, the days would be slow but the weeks and months would fly. But I swear, every moment seems to be on roller skates going downhill. I need the days to sloooowww down (and the naps to get longer.)

I am so grateful that from June 1 to mid September, Andy is on parental leave. An entire summer with his two girls that could not be more well-timed because pre-pregnant Jamie (due to COVID postponements and other circumstances) scheduled 8. Straight. Weddings. We just finished #5 and are still making it through with just one cup of coffee per day.

Yes, we need more hours in the day, but our mild child has given us as much of advantage as a lil 4 month old can. (An entire week of sleeping 12 hours through the night has been amaaaaaaaazing.)

I will never book that many consecutive weddings (or even half that) ever again, but every couple this summer has been absolute perfection. Through this blur of a season, we have met the kindest human beings. We’ve built friendships, enjoyed some of the coolest venues, captured the sweetest sp*eches and vows, and now we get to craft some beautiful stories — all while building a beautiful story of our own.

I don’t know what this post is meant to do other than acknowledge the blur. And to thank for lead shooting while managing his own YT video production and ultimately keeping our house in order.

And a momentous thanks to and for stepping in on a few weekends so I could be with my girl. I have learned so much by watching you two pros and am forever thankful!

A couple of years ago, I was telling Andy how proud I was of him to have built such an amazing life through working unbelievably hard, staying focused, and making very intentional decisions to keep our lives as fruitful and stress-free as possible.

He appreciated the compliment and followed up with, “I don’t want to be known just by how hard I work. I don’t want our kids to think of me working all the time without memories of really living.”

Andy Slye, you make life so much sweeter. You are so diligent and driven, but becoming a dad has shown the gushiest heart of a man that’s softer than I could have imagined. You have carried a lot of responsibility in our 7 years together, and especially the last four months. Thank you for moving at the sp*ed of light to do housework, for losing sleep to check on Audrey through the monitor 3x a night because you’re the ultimate protector, and always being a step ahead to make sure things are prepped, ready, and easy to go- especially in this busy summer.

Audrey and I cannot wait to spend a lifetime with you really living- with hard work and great life lessons along the way. You are the Samwise to my Frodo and elevate the love in the Slye house to such an amazing level.

Happy Father’s Day, !

I’ve known you, studied you, fed you, soothed you, sang to you, marveled at you and made the craziest faces at you for 75 days. I still can’t believe you’re mine. Can’t believe that our moments together are in the tiniest of details. I’m already thinking of the things I’ll miss, like your little frog legs or the way you can sleep through a parade of sirens. I’m already thinking of things to look forward to, like our first vacation together this year, your first solids that I can’t wait to purée, the first time you crawl or say a word. But today, I want to freeze all that and focus on today. On how even though you acted like you sucked down an espresso at 4:30 this morning and didn’t want anyone to sleep until 7am, your amazing coos and kicking feet give me energy. How kissing your sweet, soft head and that peach fuzz calms me down. On how when you’re finished nursing, you’ll sometimes just stare at me- with your gorgeous soul-piercing eyes-until you drift to sleep. On how you make me feel stronger and more vulnerable as a woman, as your mom. I can’t wait to teach you so many things about life, but let’s face it — I’m in this phase of learning. I’m so glad it’s with you, Audrey Mae.

We are absolutely ecstatic that selected Hanna Nieder and Jerod Nieder's film as a finalist for Love Story of the Year.

For me, this was the little film that could.

We met these two at the beginning of 2021, and aside from me nearly begging them to choose us to capture their day, I was so happy knowing that they’d be our last film in a crazy year. We would end on a day that fulfilled every videographer’s dream — pure joy, raw emotion, and a fun freaking party. (And those florals — are you kidding me, ?) I wasn’t wrong.

The truth is, I was hesitant to submit this film into the awards because of one flaw in the film: the audio.

Due to circumstances outside our control, the ceremony had an external static sound unmistakable on our lav mics, and I was devastated. AUDIO IS OUR THING. It has always been the quality backbone of our films, and in times where we have external factors affect the quality, we follow up post-wedding and ask the couple to re-record in a quiet, closed-in space from their iPhone and send the audio file.

But we just couldn’t with this wedding. The emotions, the beautiful pauses, the wedding guest reactions — we could never recreate that, and would never want to try. So we patched it up the best we could, let the couple know, and still — we got an overwhelming response.

And yet, I hesitated sending this to LoveStoriesTV. Would they take us seriously with the static audio? I kept thinking — man, I should have done better. The if-should game nearly killed my confidence, but I thought — you know what? If I have learned anything from Hanna and Jerod, it’s that life is imperfect. Our stories can go sideways, but dammit, they need to be told—THEIR story above all.

So I swallowed my pride and hit send. And here we are, a finalist among a group of finalists that have massively inspired my editing approach. When I saw in this group, I could have leapt out of my chair except I was holding my newborn. I owe so much to filmmakers like Bottlebrush because in my first year as our lead editor, their music choices heavily influenced me in a direction that brought so much fun and joy to my process. It broke us out of our shell a bit, and people have noticed!

So thank you. To the wedding vendor community — especially the one right here in Louisville and across the region who has been so dang supportive of us over the years. Thank you to our couples for trusting us with your stories — I’ll be submitting a LOT more films next year. Thank you for for picking us among what had to have been an insane amount of submissions.

Our film is not up for public voting — our category will be chosen be an insanely talented group of filmmakers, but please take a look at https://lovestoriestv.com/wedding-film-awards/2022/finalists to see all the categories and to watch our little film that could.

Cheers, and thank you for the love!

Just dropping in to say hi, world. Sweet Audrey Mae, though 5 days late, did so in style just so she have the coolest birthday ever - 2/22/22. Mom and Dad are smitten as ever and will be taking a few weeks off from social to soak in every moment with this sweet girl. Thank you so much for the kind words and check-ins— we’re doing great!

Feeling sentimental as we enter the end of an era. Not just of pregnancy, but of life before kids.

Feeling sentimental because it’s the month of our girl, the month of love. The month before Spring opens up the world to more light and life.

My daily emotions have a massive range, as you can imagine. I’m so often impatient, short-tempered, stir-crazy. But almost every day, I get a glimpse of my husband and his sweet face and think, man I hope she looks like you.

Feeling sentimental has me going through our wedding photos— these frozen moments that, nearly four years ago, said I can’t wait to do this adventure with you.

Nights are sometimes the worst. Dreading to enter the latent phase of will-I-or-won’t-I.
Go into labor? Have insomnia again? P*e 5 times in the night? Trip over a cat while on the way to said p*e?

But last night, as we snuggled around my giant pregnancy pillow, face to face and dreaming about future adventures with our daughter, he said, Man, I hope she looks like you.

I broke out into a big Cheshire Cat grin, repeated the same to him, and just thought of these photos, thought of our wedding and our vows. Thought of the adventure I couldn’t wait to start and now can’t wait to share with this baby.

Well folks, thanks to baby brain and a crazy month of inquiries, I am today years old when I found out we made The Knot's 2022 Best of Weddings!

For the second year in a row, reviews from our couples have given us so much joy, confidence and visibility that help us grow our business so much!

To everyone who has given us a review on any platform, THANK YOU for taking the time to show some love to our small business.

On the tenth anniversary of the accident that changed Jerod’s life, he married his absolute soul mate and gem of a woman, Hanna.

In the words of Jerod’s dad, “It’s their wish to make this day a happy day. A fond memory.”

As you can imagine, the emotion was palpable at this gorgeous, intimate, and perfect wedding.

The pure joy on Jerod’s face — that big, cheesy grin spoke so much resolution to me. The way he paid homage to his mother with pure love and perfect humor — it felt like she was in that room.

And Hanna. The muse among her gorgeous flowers, the delicate details, the sweet Korean ceremony, the emotional vows balanced with the need to get the freaking party started and that COSTUME CHANGE.

Our only wish was to do this story justice. To capture the raw emotion and end with a punch because THAT is Hanna and Jerod.

As we count down this last month before we meet our daughter, we want to post a few updates!

—until the birth of Baby Slye, we are quarantining due to the rising spread of COVID. We’ve had a lot of last-minute inquiries lately due to the uptick of COVID infections among vendors/videographers. We’re happy to offer referrals but cannot film at this time. (If we tested positive at the time of labor, Jamie would have to deliver in an N-95. No thanks!)

—2022: we can take on ONE MORE WEDDING, but it must be in/around Louisville, and our available months are September, November or December.

—2023: now booking, though September has been filled.

—Inquiry Response: in the next few weeks, we will be in major adjustment phase and will do our best to respond to inquiries as soon as possible, but will 100% prioritize our time together as a family.

Vendor friends: if you make a referral to a couple who hasn’t heard back from us, feel free to give us a nudge through text or social!

Thank you all for your kindness and positive juju — 2022 will be one for the books!

The details of this day are beyond the color palette, the thoughtful gifts, the gorgeous florals and the fact that Beth truly thought of and planned for EVERYTHING…multiple times.

The details are in Anthony’s drumming fingertips while he nervously worked through portraits, through the Pride and Prejudice score as Beth walked down the aisle. In the ‘Always’ temporary tattoos the wedding party wore to salute Harry Potter. In the most gorgeous choreographed dances Beth shared with her new husband and her sweet dad.

Most of all, the details are in those sweet letters these lovebirds exchanged at Bernheim, tucked in a sweet little nook reminiscent of The Secret Garden. I like to tell couples that no one can tell their story like themselves, and I am so glad they made the time for that sweet moment.

Andy + Jamie = Slye Films 🙂

Who are we? We’re a fun-loving husband-&-wife videography team based in Louisville, Kentucky. Since 2015 we’ve been transforming weddings into cinematic highlight films for couples all over the country. Not only do we have a strong passion for capturing those special moments but we also love: getting engaged on the cliffs of Scotland, honeymooning to a snowy Canadian lake, sharing a French Press of locally-roasted coffee on Saturday mornings, reading books aloud over dry red wine, and binge-watching The Lord of the Rings trilogy every winter (extended editions only).

Why do we love filming weddings? Hiring a wedding videographer is important, but we believe hiring the right people who instantly make you feel comfortable is even better. As a married couple we know just how fast the wedding day goes by. Months of planning with thousands of dollars invested go into one single day then P**F – it’s gone in the blink of an eye. We live for the moment when we finally send a couple their wedding film, and they reply saying they can’t stop watching and/or crying. Filming weddings also allows us to do our famous tradition of re-enacting American Gothic in your photo booth ;)

Contact us! Feel free to reach out via Messenger if you want to book us for your wedding. We’d love to chat!
