In #1967, Robyn Hitchcock was 14 years old. Imagine one year in your life so impactful in your development, that you write a book, a memoir, about that SINGLE year. That’s exactly what Robyn did. Reading the book left us wanting more, so we were lucky enough to welcome Robyn to the podcast, and asked him all about that year. The music that influenced him, his family, prep school, Brian Eno, life in England…his life was like a novel! Pantheon Podcasts Dave Sloan Holly Walter Cantos

Robyn Hitchcock joins the podcast to talk about his book, 1967: How I Got There And Why I Never Left.

We were desperately seeking Susan Seidelman for the podcast, and lo and behold, here she is! Susan brilliantly directed Desperately Seeking Susan, Smithereens, She-Devil, episodes of S*x and the City, and now she’s written a memoir entitled Desperately Seeking Something: A Memoir about Movies, Mothers, and Material Girls. Our opinion: Susan might be one the coolest people we’ve met, and her memoir is beautifully written. Pantheon Podcasts Holly Walter Cantos Dave Sloan

Susan Seidelman has directed films with Meryl Streep, John Malkovich, and Madonna, but how does a humble girl from the suburbs of Philadelphia get to such a point? Masterpiece. Always happy to hear the stories.

On this day in 1991, the Crowded House LP “Woodface” debuted on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart at #83 (July 20)

During a break from Crowded House following the Canadian leg of the tour in support of their second album, “Temple of Low Men”, Neil Finn began recording songs with older brother and former Split Enz bandmate Tim.

These songs were originally intended for a Finn Brothers album.

Once the sessions were complete, Neil teamed back up with Nick Seymour and Paul Hester to write and record Crowded House's third album.

Unfortunately, Capitol Records rejected most of the new Crowded House songs, so Neil asked Tim if the band could use some of the new Finn Brothers songs.

Tim agreed, on condition that he would join the band, although he has since indicated he meant this as a joke.
Whatever the truth of that claim, the group that returned to the studio included Tim as a full band member.

It was short-lived however, because during the UK leg of the Woodface tour, Tim Finn and the band parted company.

Crowded House’s third studio LP features five singles: "Chocolate Cake", "Fall at Your Feet", "It's Only Natural", "Weather with You", and "Four Seasons in One Day".

“Woodface” went to #1 in New Zealand, #2 in Australia, #6 in the UK, #12 in the Netherlands and Switzerland, #13 in Norway, #20 in Canada, #24 in Sweden, and #26 in Germany.

After debuting at #83 in the US, the album peaked only one position higher at #82.

It was listed at #3 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums in October 2010.
