Wonder how this cruise ship moved to the top of this hill? The Sun Cruise Resort & Yacht, located on a cliff in Jeongdongjin, South Korea, is a hotel crafted to resemble a cruise ship. It spans 165 meters in length, stands 45 meters tall, and weighs 30,000 tons. Opened in 2002, the resort features 211 rooms, including both hotel and apartment styles, six restaurants, a revolving sky lounge, a nightclub, a karaoke bar, and a seawater pool.
Guests can enjoy the sensation of being on a cruise ship without the risk of motion sickness, thanks to the sound of crashing waves played through speakers around the hotel. The Crowley Lake Columns, located in California’s Eastern Sierra region, are a stunning geological formation resulting from ancient volcanic activity. These unique columns, which can tower up to 20 feet high, are primarily composed of ash and pumice from the Long Valley Caldera eruption approximately 760,000 years ago. The columns are thought to have formed through a combination of rapid cooling and subsequent erosion, rather than solely from molten lava cooling and contracting. They offer a captivating glimpse into Earth’s geological history and the powerful natural forces at work.

WHERE DID THE MAYANS AND THE AZTECS COME FROM? ... Charles Étienne Brasseur de Bourbourg (1814 – 1874) was a Flemish abbot of the 19th century. In addition to his clerical profession, the French abbot is universally known for his important contributions to the knowledge of the Mesoamerican peoples. In fact, Charles Étienne Brasseur was also a renowned writer, ethnographer and archaeologist who particularly specialized in the study of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. ... According to the scholar, the Mayans remembered their homeland as a "continent located in the Pacific" that later sank. They called this continent the "Land of Mu." ... A few years ago, this was thought to be a legend. But the arrival of satellites has shown that all this is true. In fact, present-day Indonesia and Australia are "remnants" of a much larger continent, which scientists call Sundaland. This continent located in the waters of the Pacific Ocean was partially submerged 14,000 years ago when the Pacific Ocean rose by about 140 meters. ... How did the Mayans know about the "sunken continent" in the Pacific Ocean? Is this an incredible coincidence? Or did your ancestors really come from Sundaland? ... Once again, if we listened to science and not our prejudices, the Mayans would be absolutely right. His ancestors came from Sundaland. How are we safe? According to Kenneth M. Olsen, a biologist specializing in plant evolution at Washington University in St. Louis, we have irrefutable evidence that sailors from the Sundaland and Sahuland regions traveled to Panama in Central America in pre-Columbian times. ... The "living proof" is the presence of the coconut in America. This researcher discovered that all coconut trees, wherever they are found in the world, come from India or the ancient Sundaland region. Furthermore, the professor explains that, at least when it comes to long distances, the coconut tree does not migrate naturally, unlike the seeds of other plants. In its case, it must be transported by humans to other distant regions to take root there. If the coconut tree arrived in Central America in pre-Columbian times, it means that other sailors arrived in America before Christopher Columbus and planted it.

Hedy Lamarr, often proclaimed “the most beautiful woman in the world.” The 26-yr-old Lamarr was thriving in Hollywood when, in September 1940, N**i U-boats hunted down & sank a cruise ship trying to evacuate 90 British schoolchildren to Canada. 77 drowned in the bleak north Atlantic. Lamarr, a Jewish immigrant from N**i-occupied Austria, who had been making America her home since 1938, was outraged. She fought back by applying her engineering skills to development of a sonar sub-locator used in the Atlantic for the benefit of the Allies. The principles of her work are now incorporated into modern Wi-Fi, CDMA and Bluetooth technology, and this work led to her to be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014

The last known photo of Nikola Tesla, 1943

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian inventor, engineer and futurist who is considered to be one of the most important and influential engineers of all time. His works mostly focused on electricity, with a focus on developing high-voltage machines and equipment. He is mostly known for his contributions to the alternating current, a type of electrical current, in which the direction of the flow of electrons switches back and forth at regular intervals or cycles. His design for AC currents would become the most common type of current distribution for electricity in comparison to Direct Current, which was heavily promoted by Thomas Edison.

Tesla also made different contributions to X-ray, early radio waves and wireless communication. Towards the end of his life, he became an extreme vegetarian, which caused him to lose quite a lot of weight, which contributed to his emaciated look. He also struggled financially throughout his life and was broke when he passed away.

Tesla could speak 8 languages. It is thought that he may have been on the Autism Spectrum due to some of his behaviours and characteristics, as well as his problem-solving abilities and high intelligence.

"I am 82 years old, I have 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a room of 12 square meters.
I no longer have a home or expensive things, but I have someone who will clean my room, prepare food and change my bedding, measure my blood pressure and weigh me.
I no longer have the laughter of my grandchildren, I don't see them growing, hugging and arguing. Some come to me every 15 days, some every three or four months, and some never.
I don't bake cakes, I don't dig up the garden. I still have hobbies and I like to read, but my eyes quickly hurt.
I don’t know how much longer, but I have to get used to this loneliness.
Here at home, I lead group work and help those who are worse than me as much as I can.
Until recently, I read aloud to an immobile woman in the room next to me, we used to sing together, but she died the other day. They say life is getting longer. Why?
When I’m alone, I can look at photos of my family and memories I brought from home. And that's all.
I hope that the next generations will understand that families are born to have a future (with children) and that they do not forget about the family even in old age."

How Children perceive their grandparents.
1. I was in the bathroom, putting on my makeup, under the watchful eyes of my young granddaughter, as I'd done many times before. After I applied my lipstick and started to leave, the little one said, "But Grandma, you forgot to kiss the toilet paper good-bye!" I will probably never put lipstick on again without thinking about kissing the toilet paper good-bye....
2. My young grandson called the other day to wish me Happy Birthday. He asked me how old I was, and I told him, 68. My grandson was quiet for a moment, and then he asked, "Did you start at 1?"
3. After putting her grandchildren to bed, a grandmother changed into old slacks and a droopy blouse and proceeded to wash her hair. As she heard the children getting more and more rambunctious, her patience grew thin. Finally, she threw a towel around her head and stormed into their room, putting them back to bed with stern warnings. As she left the room, she heard the three-year-old say with a trembling voice, "Who was THAT?"
4. A grandmother was telling her little granddaughter what her own childhood was like. "We used to skate outside on a pond. I had a swing made from a tire; it hung from a tree in our front yard. We rode our pony. We picked wild raspberries in the woods." The little girl was wide-eyed, taking this all in. At last she said, "I sure wish I'd gotten to know you sooner!"
5. My grandson was visiting one day when he asked, "Grandma, do you know how you and God are alike?" I mentally polished my halo and I said, "No, how are we alike?'' "You're both old," he replied.
6. A little girl was diligently pounding away on her grandfather's word processor. She told him she was writing a story.
"What's it about?" he asked.
"I don't know," she replied. "I can't read."
7. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I really think you should try to figure out some of these colors yourself!"
8. When my grandson Billy and I entered our vacation cabin, we kept the lights off until we were inside to keep from attracting pesky insects. Still, a few fireflies followed us in. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights."
9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised "Mine says I'm 4 to 6." (WOW! I really like this one -- it says I'm only '38'!)
10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting." she said. "How do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'."
11. Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. 'It means carrying a child."
12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties.
"They use him to keep crowds back," said one child.
"No," said another. "He's just for good luck."
A third child brought the argument to a close. “They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants."
13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. "Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and whenever we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport."
14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him!
15. My Grandparents are funny, when they bend over, you hear gas leaks and they blame their dog.
SEND THIS TO OTHER GRANDPARENTS, ALMOST GRANDPARENTS, OR HECK, SEND IT TO EVERYONE. IF THEY'RE NOT ALREADY GRANDPARENTS, MAYBE SOME DAY THEY'LL GET LUCKY AND BECOME ONE!
IT MIGHT JUST MAKE THEIR DAY!

"My Grandma’s high school boyfriend, Jim, called her up a few months ago to plan a high school reunion. They are both 81 and widowed. Then they had another phone call. And another. Which turned into a visit. And then, they fell in love all over again. My Grandma started smiling again. Our talks started to be about her future instead of her past. She became herself again. I guess the same thing happened to Jim. His daughter called my grandma and thanked her for 'helping her dad smile again.'
Not many people marry their prom date…but tomorrow my Grandma gets to marry hers, even if it is 64 years after prom!"

Thanksgiving Letter From Grandma!
Dear Family.......Living is still important to me.
If being in my Last Will and Testament is important to you, then you might consider being with me for my favorite holiday. Dinner is at 2:00. Not 2:15. Not 2:05. Two. 2:00! Arrive late and you get what's left over.
Last year, that moron Marshall fried a turkey in one of those contraptions and practically burned the deck off the house. This year, the only peanut oil used to make the meal will be from the secret scoop of peanut butter I add to the carrot soup.
Jonathan, your last new wife was an idiot. You don't arrive at someone's house on Thanksgiving needing to use the oven and the stove. Honest to God, I thought you might have learned after two wives - date them longer and save us all the agony of another divorce.
Now, the house rules are slightly different This year because I have decided that 47% of you don't know how to take care of nice things. Paper plates and red Solo cups might be bad for the environment, but I'll be gone soon and that will be your problem to deal with.
House Rules:
1. The University of Texas no longer plays Texas A&M. The television stays off during the meal.
2. The "no cans for kids" rule still exists. We are using 2-liter bottles because your children still open a third can before finishing the first two. Parents can fill a child's cup when it is empty. All of the cups have names on them and I'll be paying close attention to refills.
3. Chloe, last year we were at Trudy's house and I looked the other way when your Jell-O salad showed up. This year, if Jell-O salad comes in the front door it will go right back out the back door with the garbage. Save yourself some time, honey. You've never been a good cook and you shouldn't bring something that wiggles more than you. Buy something from the bakery.
4. Grandmothers give grandchildren cookies and candy. That is a fact of life. Your children can eat healthily at your home. At my home, they can eat whatever they like as long as they finish it.
5. I cook with bacon and bacon grease. That's nothing new. Your being a vegetarian doesn't change the fact that stuffing without bacon is like egg salad without eggs. Even the green bean casserole has a little bacon grease in it. That's why it tastes so good. Not eating bacon is just not natural. And as far as being healthy... look at me. I've outlived almost everyone I know.
6. Salad at Thanksgiving is a waste of space.
7. I do not like cell phones. Leave them in the car.
8. I do not like video cameras. There will be 32 people here. I am sure you can capture lots of memories without the camera pointed at me.
9. Being a mother means you have to actually pay attention to the kids. I have nice things and I don't put them away just because the company is coming over. Mary, watch your kids and I'll watch my things.
10. Rhonda, a cat that requires a shot twice a day is a cat that has lived too many lives. I think staying home to care for the cat is your way of letting me know that I have lived too many lives too. I can live with that. Can you?
11. Words mean things. I say what I mean. Let me repeat: You don't need to bring anything means you don't need to bring anything. And if I did tell you to bring something, bring it in the quantity I said. Really, this doesn't have to be difficult.
12. Domino's and cards are better than anything that requires a battery or an on/off switch. That was true when you were kids and it's true now that you have kids.
13. Showing up for Thanksgiving guarantees presents at Christmas. Not showing up guarantees a card that may or may not be signed.
Love You, Grandma

"My Papa Joe is 85 and has been faithfully married to my grandma for 60 years. His memory is slipping and he is really slowing down. Today, he asked me to take him to Walmart because he wanted to get out of the house. I was thankful he asked because, as many of us know, he shouldn’t be driving. I thought it would also benefit grandma to have the house to herself for a while, not having to worry about grandpa for a few hours. I watched him, cane in hand, taking the tiniest steps all around Walmart...I had no idea what he was after. I just thought he wanted out of the house. But as I observed each item he put in the cart, I noticed a theme. They were some of my grandma’s favorite things. He got a bottle of her favorite soda. He carefully picked out a bag of her favorite grapes. He even bought her a small lemon pie...and then, my eyes welled with tears as I watched him hobble over to the fresh flowers and pick her the bouquet that had the most purple in it. On our way home, he insisted we stop and grab a sandwich to take home for grandma’s lunch! May we all take a lesson from Papa Joe. Never stop being intentional!!!"

The Duck & the Devil:
There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back for dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma's pet duck.
Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved..
In a panic, he hid its dead body in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching! Sally had seen it all, but she said nothing.
After lunch the next day Grandma said, "Sally, let's wash the dishes." But Sally said, "Grandma, Johnny told me he wanted to help in the kitchen. Then she whispered to him, "Remember the duck?" So Johnny did the dishes.
Later that day, Grandpa asked if the children wanted to go fishing and Grandma said, "I'm sorry but I need Sally to help make supper." Sally just smiled and said," Well that's all right because Johnny told me he wanted to help." She whispered again, "Remember the duck?" So Sally went fishing and Johnny stayed to help.!
After several days of Johnny doing both his chores and Sally's... he finally couldn't stand it any longer. He came to Grandma and confessed that he had killed the duck. Grandma knelt down, gave him a hug, and said, "Sweetheart, I know. You see, I was standing at the window and I saw the whole thing, but because I love you, I forgave you. I was just wondering how long you would let Sally make a slave of you."
Whatever is in your past, whatever you have done... and the devil keeps throwing it up in your face (lying, cheating, debt, fear, bad habits, hatred, anger, bitterness, etc.), ..whatever it is....You need to know that God was standing at the window and He saw the whole thing..... He has seen your whole life; He wants you to know that He loves you and that you are forgiven.
He's just wondering how long you will let the devil make a slave of you. The great thing about God is that when you ask for forgiveness, He not only forgives you, but He forgets..... It is by God's grace and mercy that we are saved…

06/14/2024

In the summer of 1953, amidst the post-war optimism of the United States, William “Bill” Harrison and Margaret “Maggie” Thompson met at a neighborhood dance in a small town in Ohio. Bill, the charming son of a local doctor, had just returned from his second year at university, where he studied mechanical engineering. Maggie, a vibrant young woman with a passion for music, was about to start her career as a school teacher after graduating from the local college.
Their meeting was almost serendipitous. Maggie had reluctantly agreed to accompany her friend to the dance, while Bill, never one to miss a social gathering, was there with his college buddies. As the band played a lively tune, Bill's eyes caught Maggie's across the room. He mustered the courage to ask her for a dance, and as they twirled around the floor, a connection sparked between them that neither could ignore.
Throughout the summer, Bill and Maggie spent every available moment together. They picnicked by the river, attended local baseball games, and shared long conversations about their dreams and aspirations. Bill admired Maggie’s dedication to shaping young minds, while Maggie was fascinated by Bill’s ambition to create innovative machinery that could change the world.
By the time autumn arrived and Bill had to return to university, they both knew that what they had was something special. They promised to write each other weekly, sharing their thoughts, hopes, and the minutiae of their daily lives. Their letters, filled with affection and longing, bridged the distance between them.
A year later, Bill proposed to Maggie on a crisp October evening, under the same oak tree where they had shared their first kiss. They married in the summer of 1954, in a small church filled with family and friends. The photograph you see is from their wedding day, capturing a moment of pure joy and love as they began their life together.
Bill went on to become a successful engineer, working on projects that helped modernize the American infrastructure, while Maggie inspired generations of children with her passion for education. They faced life’s challenges hand in hand, always returning to the love that had started on that fateful summer evening.
This photo remains a cherished reminder of their enduring bond, a testament to the beautiful journey they embarked upon together over seventy years ago.
