An important meeting is coming up in our neighborhood!

🎒 Our district’s school rezoning team will host a community forum at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the auditorium at Frederick Douglass High School. This is an opportunity for the public to hear the recommendations and ask questions about the proposed scenarios involving the addition of Mary E. Britton Middle School, which is slated to open in fall 2025.

Great news in our neighborhood! 👏

This morning, Frederick Douglass High School received its certification as a Heart Safe School, thanks to the Project Adam program being administered locally by University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Thanks to Dr. Shaun Mohan and hospital staff, all Fayette County Public High Schools are now prepared to handle sudden cardiac arrest emergencies. Next, they move on to certifying our middle and elementary schools. Great work and congratulations on this potentially life-saving accomplishment!

It’s Happening in Hamburg!

When Hamburg Journal was founded back in 2003 (more than 15 years ago!), our very first office was just off Richmond Road. The Hamburg corridor soon grew even bigger than we ever imagined — with our wedge of Lexington’s geographic pie extending to cover all of southeast Lexington from Richmond Road all the way over to Wi******er Road and beyond. It’s an honor and a privilege to meet you — our neighbors — and to share your stories. Cheers to the next 16 years!
