The City of Leesburg just rolled out a new Teacher Incentive Program which seeks to encourage and incentivize teachers to relocate and live in the LakeFront City’s utility service territory. Based on a recommendation from the newly created Electric Advisory Board and approved unanimously by the City Commission, a two-year pilot program was created which will provide a one-time waiver of utility connection fees for any teacher who chooses to move into the service area for the first time. The incentive program is applicable for Leesburg electric, water and gas connection fees and can save the recipient up to $205 in utility costs.

We are aware that this has been an issue countywide but most of the calls we’re receiving have been in the Leesburg and Grand Island areas. Most of the vehicles reported have been unsecured and we are working diligently to identify those who are responsible for these crimes happening.
Please remember to double check your car doors and lock them before heading inside and make sure to hide any items or bring them into your home.
