🚧District 5 Road Conditions Update 🚧

The following state roads are currently impacted in District 5:

Henry County:
-KY 389 (Harpers Ferry Road/River Road) is closed between mile markers 4 and 8 due to standing water.
-KY 561 (Gest Road) is down to one lane between mile markers 2 and 3 due to a slide.
-KY 1360 (Franklinton Road) is closed at mile point 6.5 due to standing water.

Bullitt County:
-KY 480 (Cedar Grove Road) is closed at mile point 10.1 due to standing water.
-KY 1494 (Beech Grove Road) is closed between mile points 2.1 and 3.2 due to standing water.

Shelby County:
-KY 2268 (Eminence Pike) is closed between mile points 0.2 and 1.3 due to standing water.

Spencer County:
-KY 1169 (Normandy Road) is closed between mile points 8.5 and 8.9 due to standing water.
-KY 1633 (Elk Creek Road) is closed between mile points 0.0 and 0.2 due to standing water.
-KY 2885 is closed between mile markers 2 and 7 due to standing water.
-KY 623 is closed between mile points 4.5 and 5.3 due to standing water.

Franklin County:
-KY 1659 (Glenns Creek Road) is closed between mile markers 1 and 2 due to a slide.

Drivers are reminded to never drive through flooded roadways. Even a small amount of rushing water can carry a vehicle away, and underlying pavement damage may not be visible.

Due to the Winter Storm Warning which has been issued for Henry County, we will be closing school tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 11. This will be NTI day #5. While closing school before any ice or snow hits the ground may seem overly cautious, we do not want to put our bus drivers, students, student drivers, staff or parents in a potentially dangerous situation on hazardous roads. Charles Thomas “Tommy” Benham, 84, was laid to rest Feb. 4 at New Castle Cemetery.

Benham had a life of public service. He served as public works director for the City of New Castle for 20 years, a deputy sheriff for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years, an assistant fire chief of the New Castle Fire Department and as president of Henry County EMS District 3.

KY 55 (North Main Street) is currently closed between mile point 1.4 (near Elm Street) and mile point 4.4 (near U.S. 421/Castle Highway) due to a crash.

-Southbound traffic can detour via U.S. 421 to KY 22 to reach KY 55.
-Northbound traffic can detour via KY 22 to U.S. 421 to reach KY 55.
