Our latest baby…one year in the making, meet the 2024 Sunshine Daydream Hawai‘i Festival - Fall Equinox Weekend - Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, oceanfront on Oʻahu’s North Shore with music from 12:30pm to 6:30pm.

Two beautiful days at the beach on Mokuēʻia’s pristine coastline immersed in music, community and nature. There’s also the option of making it a three-night staycation with lodge rooms, cabins, tentalos and camping available Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

There will never be another Jerry Garcia. And I miss him as much as ever...

At one point after Jerry's passing, I was alone visiting a beach in Hawaii. Two huge Samoan guys just got back from spearfishing and they emerged from the water like creatures from the dark lagoon. They were as massive as sumo wrestlers and they were carrying spearguns with them, for fishing purposes. But, you know, a weapon's a weapon. And to prove it, they had dead fish hanging off their belts. I kept my cool when they started walking right toward me, but I'd be bluffing if I said I wasn't a bit nervous. When they approached, all they said was, "Sorry to hear about da kine." They were speaking in Hawaiian Pidgin - local slang - but were talking about Jerry.

He would've loved that, like it was some sort of prank that made up for the time the dive instructor in Kona asked him for his autograph, 20 feet below the surface. It made me smile. Jerry was "da kine."

It showed just how far and wide his reach was, and how deeply he was embedded in the American consciousness.
Love you, brother.

This broadcast features the live performance Taimane, cast and crew shared with a sold-out audience at Hawai'i Theatre Center this past August.

This show is wonderful, and the energy in the room was electric.

Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater FLASHBACK: in honor of this Sunday's Lucky 7 Grateful Dead Tribute Concert at this wonderful, but long dormant amphitheater, we look back at some history of this performance space.

This photo of Muddy Waters and KTUH Dj Kevan Scott was taken at the Waikīkī Shell Amphitheater on the day that Muddy played this intimate, "bleacher stadium." And.....wait for it...
.Muddy's show and this photo took place in 1977! In fact, on May 8, 1977 - the same weekend as the Boston Garden concert The Stephen Inglis Project is playing this Sunday at the amphitheater *and* the same day as the Dead's famed Barton Hall concert.

We're are feeling the force of Lucky 7 ✨

Fifty years ago *TODAY*, the Grateful Dead stepped onto a makeshift stage at the Old Renaissance Faire Grounds in Veneta, Oregon and delivered an iconic performance, thereafter dubbed "Sunshine Daydream." Jerry, Bobby, Billy and Phil not only donated the performance in support of Springfield Creamery (owned by Sue and Chuck Kesey (brother of Ken Kesey)), but also chipped in $12,000 out of their own pocket to help the farm stay alive.

If you do not currently have a parking pass or VIP ticket, you will not be allowed to park onsite as we have already reached our parking lot capacity.

To ensure everyone’s safety, policies are in place to prevent patrons from walking alongside the road and into the event.

Anyone who attempts to walk onto the property will be denied entry. In addition, parking is *not* allowed along either side of the road. Vehicles that park alongside the road will be towed.
