🚂 Update: Quiet Zone Restoration 🚂

The City's construction work for the Quiet Zone was completed on April 1, 2024, and was subsequently inspected by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on April 2, receiving initial approval. However, before final reinstatement, the FRA requested additional updates to the crossing data for all five crossings within the Quiet Zone's boundaries.

The City of Galt petitioned the FRA to separate these updates from the Quiet Zone reinstatement, which was granted. The quiet zone is expected to be implemented in the next few days (i.e., train horns stopped).

Even though the Quiet Zone is reinstated, it's important to remember that train engineers retain the right to sound horns if there are safety concerns, such as people or vehicles near the tracks. Additionally, Union Pacific is conducting significant maintenance operations in the area, which may result in occasional horn use despite the Quiet Zone's return.
