PROGRAM SUMMARY
Newspapers In Education is a national literacy program that is promoted in Northwest Arkansas by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (ADG). We provide newspapers to teachers to use as a supplement or textbook in the classroom. Each student receives their own paper and they are never charged for them. We provide the teachers with the papers, activity ideas, and curriculum guidelines. Th
e ADG underwrites all administration expenses for the program, and 2/3 of the cost of the newspapers, which is the maximum allowed by the Audit Bureau of Circulation. The remaining 1/3 comes through classroom sponsorships businesses and organizations such as yours. In exchange for sponsoring a classroom or classrooms, we will publish either your business name or logo in ads that run several times each year in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette – Northwest Edition. Our circulation reaches over 100,000 readers in 12 Northwest Arkansas counties, so it's a great deal of coverage for the cost. You might be interested to know 100% of your donation goes directly to pay for papers for students in Washington, Benton, Madison and Carroll county schools. In the 2012/2013 school years we provided approximately 700,000 newspapers to Washington, Benton, and Madison counties. We have been growing over the past few years and hope to continue too. As you can see, your support will touch many children in Northwest Arkansas, while giving your business or organization some positive PR/name recognition in the largest daily newspaper in Arkansas. We hope you’ll join us in supporting literacy in Northwest Arkansas!
