Find Your Rhythm, Go OffBeat!
The OffBeat Business Show was started in 2014 when Pegasus Radio Executive Producer Robin Roberson introduced the idea to Pam Russell and me over dinner. I had no idea what an internet radio show was or what to do with it, but in the month prior I had found out I would be a grandmother by two of my kids and my father had not recovered from open heart surgery, resulting in his early death. I was open to new directions and willing to explore new skill sets.
It wasn’t long before I was arranging a digital magazine, interviewing people on my own radio show, and selling advertisements for both. Within 6 months I was starting to understand that this model was highly influential and had the potential to reach people in a targeted way I’d never considered.
People with experience often fail to realize how valuable that experience is. I’ve never been focused on the startup community; my heart has always been for people who have been in business for 10-15-20 years or so, and truly struggled to stay on top of content demands and technical processes. Those advances have moved quickly over the last 10 years, and we now find ourselves in a situation where the lack of ability to stay ‘content forward’ could spell the demise of all those years of hard work for the majority of American local family business.
It’s unfair, really, but I now see how I can help on a much larger scale.
