FAIRMONT — The Greater Fairmont area has a new local source for hometown news. Fairmont News was officially unveiled by Clarksburg Publishing Company at the Bridges without Boundaries, North Central West Virginia Summit on Wednesday, March 30. The new print, digital and social media initiative will serve residents living within the 26554 zip code. Pleasant Valley, Kingmont and White Hall communiti
es in Marion County.
“This is a big moment for all of us,” President Brian Jarvis said. “We have always felt a need to provide the residents and businesses of the Greater Fairmont area with locally-owned community-focused print, digital and social media. Fairmont News is exactly that.”
Long-time Fairmont-area resident and current Publisher of The Exponent Telegram, Andy Kniceley, will lead the local editorial and advertising team at Fairmont News.
“Our staff of community journalists all have a long-standing, personal connection to Fairmont,” Kniceley explained. “Folks like Susan Bartholow, Jim Davis, Mary Wade Burnside, Marcie Williams, Nicole Lemal-Stefanovich and Matt Welch are well-respected in the industry and all share a common interest in serving the needs of the Fairmont community.”
Kniceley also said John Dahlia, current editor of the Preston County News & Journal and former director of Main Street Fairmont and former member of Fairmont City Council, will serve as the editor of the new weekly newspaper, the Fairmont News. In addition, Dahlia will spear head our digital and social media efforts as well.
“John certainly knows and has a passion for the Fairmont community,” Kniceley said. “He will work hard to connect the community together 24/7 through our new weekly newspaper, our website fairmontnews.com as well as the Fairmont News page (facebook.com/fairmontnews).”
The Fairmont News main office is located at 110 Adams Street; a multi-office building owned and operated by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. The Fairmont News will be published each Thursday, beginning on Thursday, April 14 and home delivered to residents in targeted neighborhoods within the 26554 zip code for FREE.
