What many men who date divorced women do not understand is that often, we are coming out of relationships where we carried the majority of the emotional burden. In this new phase of our lives we are looking for different. We are seeking a partner who doesn't add weight to our lives in order to be a part if it. If you feel that you're presenting yourself in a certain way, similar to how we shift our presentation and behavior for work or social engagements, then you already know that you're not being authentic to yourself.
When we enter relationships that do not make us comfortable sharing our true self, we eventually become fatigued.
Resentments arise. Miscommunication becomes prevalent and, in time, the real us begins to surface. Its usually at this point when we realize that we never really knew our partner at all. Instead, we fell in love with the "idea" of who they were and who we presented to them.
