RESTAURANT INFO: Chick-fil-A Newburgh will be open for dine-in, drive-thru, carry-out and third-party delivery from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The new restaurant brings approximately 150 jobs to the community. The restaurant will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need.

LOCALLY OWNED & OPERATED: A southern Indiana native, Rich Stierwalt is thrilled to open a second location in a place he’s called home for over 34 years. Chick-fil-A’s mission to create a positive influence on local communities is one of the many things that drew Stierwalt to the Company after a career in the snack foods industry. He was selected in 2011 as the local Owner-Operator of Chick-fil-A Cross Pointe in Evansville, Indiana, which he will continue to operate. Now, as he opens his second restaurant, he is excited to continue to show care for a community that means so much to him.

Posey County Development: A NEW inclusive playground and park has broken ground in Mount Vernon, Indiana! Details ⬇️🌳

Avery's Place Playground will be the first inclusive playground built in Posey County, Indiana and will be designed for all children, particularly those with disabilities. The playground will honor the life and memory of Avery Beste, who passed away in 2008, at the age of 18. The new playground will include smooth surfaces, ramps, transfer stations, specialized seating, high-back swings, musical elements, education play panels, shade and much more!

The new inclusive playground will be located in the city's new Phillip H. Hagemann Park, which will be located adjacent to and eventually connect with Brittlebank Park. Construction on Phase 1 of the new park and the playground officially broke ground on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Learn more about what is coming by reading the phases here! ⬇️

Newburgh Development Update: Could something similar to Topgolf be heading for Epworth Road? ⛳️

As we told you on July 24, 2024, the proposed location for the future Warrick Sports Complex was released through documents submitted to the Warrick County Board of Zoning Appeals. Along with the new sports complex, another application for a "driving range within a family entertainment center" was listed for the intersection of Oak Grove Road and Epworth Road. Here is what we know so far. ⬇️⛳️

⛳️Driving Range/Family Entertainment Center:
- The applicant for this portion is Oakland Holdings LLC, which traces back to the Victoria Woods Development.
- According to documents submitted to the Warrick County Area Plan Commission, here is the early rendering of what the facility could look like. The application is listed as having a driving range within a family entertainment center. From our assessment, the aerial rendering is similar in nature to what Topgolf offers.

Evansville Development: Demolition continues on the old Welborn and Deaconess Clinic building in downtown Evansville.

Details are limited at this time, but word is that a new facility will be constructed on-site for students in the Academy of Science & Medicine (ASM) program. The ASM program is a part of the EVSC (Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation) and is currently located on the campus of Central High School.

Evansville Development: Take a look at the new pickleball and tennis courts at Burdette Park!

The tennis and pickleball courts officially reopened to the general public earlier this year. The courts did open to the community late last year, but work was not completed until this summer.

BREAKING: The location for the Warrick Sports Complex AND a driving range within a family entertainment center has been revealed! Here is what we know so far! ⬇️⛳️

According to details submitted to the Warrick County Board of Zoning Appeals on Monday, July 22, the new facilities are planned to be built in the area on the map highlighted in orange.

📍3100 Epworth Road (northern portion of the area in orange on the map) - Driving range within a family entertainment center.
📍3311 Epworth Road (southern portion of the area in orange on the map) - Warrick Sports Complex

Details on both projects are limited, but here is what we know so far. ⬇️

🚧 Warrick Sports Complex 🚧
- EDGE Sports Global will oversee the construction and operation of the new Warrick Sports Complex. EDGE Sports Group has offices in Massachusetts and Florida, oversees 12 athletic facilities and is currently developing several facilities across the United States. The new facility in Warrick County will be paid for by the state's READI funds, Warrick County tax incentives and private financing.
- The facility will include a variety of indoor court space and athletic spaces capable of handling various sports, along with convention and event spaces.
- The hope is to break ground on the project by the end of this year.

🚧 Driving Range - Family Entertainment Center 🚧
- Beyond the listing in the Warrick County Board of Zoning Appeals, not much is known about this portion of the project. The applicant for this portion is Oakland Holdings LLC, which traces back to the Victoria Woods Development.

The 72 acres of land at the corner of Oak Grove and Epworth roads has been pending sale since late 2023, bu the sale of the land is nearing. According to the listing by Woodward Commercial Realty, this 72 acres of land is listed for sale for $9 million.

🚧👷‍♂️More road construction is scheduled to start THIS Summer, this time on the I-69 Ohio River Crossing between Evansville, Indiana and Henderson, Kentucky. Details ⬇️ 🚧👷

The Indiana Department of Transportation will soon break ground on Section 3 of the I-69 Ohio River Crossing, which will be built between I-69/Veterans Memorial Parkway and the Indiana-Kentucky border. I-69 ORX Section 3 includes part of the approach roadways and bridges in Indiana that will provide all-weather construction access to the river for the future Section 2 project. Section 3 of the project is expected to be completed in 2026.

Section 2 is the I-69 Ohio River Bridge and is expected to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2031. Section 1 in Kentucky is currently under construction between KY 425 and US 60 and is expected to be completed by Spring 2025. Evansville Development: A new indoor pickleball facility is coming to Evansville, Indiana! Details ⬇️

3rd Shot Pickleball - Evansville is scheduled to open in the former Evansville Basketball Academy later this fall on Evansville's east side. The new facility will be home to eight indoor pickleball courts, a party room, and a bar serving beer, wine and food. 3rd Shot Pickleball - Evansville will be open to the community and will have membership options to purchase.

This will be the fourth 3rd Shot Pickleball location to open in the United States, as 3rd Shot currently has locations in Wheat Ridge, Colorado; Longmont, Colorado; Reno, Nevada (Under Construction); and Evansville, Indiana (Under Construction).

Evansville Development: Is Trader Joe's coming to Evansville, Indiana? 🥖🍓🫐🥬

Rumors are floating around that Trader Joe's is potentially coming to Evansville. So we decided to reach out directly to the company. Here is the statement that we received last week from Nakia Rohde, Public Relations Manager for Trader Joe's: "We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year. At this time, we do not have a location confirmed in Evansville, Indiana. We list all of the stores that are opening soon on our website."

Evansville Development Update: Early site work is ongoing at The Vault on Main development in Downtown Evansville Indiana!

The Vault on Main broke ground back in May 2024 and is expected to open in Summer 2026. The nearly $60 million mixed-used development will be located at 424 Main Street in the heart of Downtown Evansville. When complete, The Vault on Main will be home to 161 residential units, along with a first-floor retail on Main Street, a new city park, and 180 parking spots in an underground parking garage.

The Vault on Main is being developed by CRG Residential out of Carmel, Indiana. The new development replaces the empty lot left by the former Old National Bank building, which was imploded in 2021.

Evansville Development: Two new Dunkin' locations are in the works for Evansville! Details ⬇️☕️🍩☕️🍩

The first new Dunkin' will be located along Burkhardt Road, directly north of E Virginia Street. The new location will be built in a new retail center next to the Circle K gas station (formerly Marathon). Site work has officially started on this project as of July 2024. Evansville 411 NEWS first told you about this project back in December 2023.

The second new Dunkin' is planned to be located near the intersection of US 41 and Lynch Road, in the new development currently taking place at the former Holiday Inn/Clarion Inn hotel. The former hotel area is being renovated into apartments and retail space as we speak.

Evansville Development: What a transformation! 🔥💡🔌
We have gotten numerous questions over the last couple of months on what is moving into the old Oak Hill Pharmacy / Accurate Electronics building along Morgan Avenue and about the mural. The work is now complete! Details! ⬇️

The IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors Southern Indiana - Evansville Chapter) has transformed this building at the corner of Morgan Avenue and Weinbach Avenue into their new training location! The building is now home to a new mural and a neon sign, which represents the IEC spin on "e" for Evansville, Indiana - e is for everyone. The neon sign is overlaid with a map of Evansville.

The artistic work was completed by Dylan Marie Wathen at Laughing Light Art. Tremendous work!

Evansville Development: The Ford Center will be getting new LED displays by Daktronics later this year! Details ⬇️

The Ford Center has selected Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and deliver 20 LED displays totaling more than 3,000 square feet in 2024. This includes the new centerpiece 360-degree scoreboard, along with the arenas 4 ribbon displays and 7 court-side scorers tables.

CLOSURE ALERT: Heady's Pizza (temporarily Nation's Pizza) has announced that they will be closing their First Avenue location.

Heady's Pizza was located at 4120 N First Avenue on Evansville's north side. The pizza shop was rebranded as Nation's Pizza earlier this year, as new owners took over the shop. The restaurant recently rebranded back to Heady's Pizza.
