It is, of course, right and proper that Americans pause on this Memorial Day to remember and salute our fighting men and women who paid the ultimate price in service to our nation.
But, please, let us not forget the loved ones of our fallen sailors, soldiers, Marines, and airmen -- the folks left behind to grieve for the rest of their lives.
The survivors have also made, indirectly, a great sacrifice. And so, I want to salute America's Gold Star families -- a great and proud designation which, nevertheless, NO ONE wants to have.
In honor of them, and their loved ones who died for our country....here's an awesome rendition of the song, "God bless America," from Navy Petty Officer First Class Generald Wilson.

Here's an abbreviated version of a great video history of carmaking in Lansing from the first vehicle made at the Olds Motor Works in 1901, up to production in the 2000s at GM's massive Grand River Assembly and Delta Township plants.
This shortened version begins with auto production in Lansing after World War II, in the late 1940s.
THE APOLOGY FOX NEWS SHOULD HAVE AIRED FOR ITS ELECTION LIES!!!
On the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS last night, they aired a brilliant bit.
They put together the apology to America that Fox News SHOULD HAVE GIVEN after agreeing to pay out more than three-quarters of a billion dollars to Dominion Voting Systems for their lies about a stolen 2020 presidential election.

80 years later, the horror of the Holocaust has faded in the public consciousness.
Back in 1988, the landmark ABC television miniseries, "War and Remembrance," revisited the horror, in visually dramatic fashion.
In one scene, viewers were actually taken into the gas chamber in the Auschwitz concentration camp to let folks experience, in a sense, what millions of PEOPLE, mostly Jews, were subjected to -- death by poisonous gas. (For the record, the Nazis used a common insecticide known as ZYKLON-B)
To set the scene.....you're about to see the death of one of the miniseries' principal characters, noted Jewish American author, Dr. Aaron Jastrow, played by the great actor Sir. John Gielgud.
Through a series of missteps, Jastrow is trapped in Europe and ends up going to the gas chamber in Auschwitz.
Again -- there are VERY DISTURBING IMAGES in this 5-minute video clip. Based on eyewitness reports and testimony, the gas chamber scene is considered 'historically accurate.'

COVID, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL!!!
As of this posting, more than 885-THOUSAND Americans have died from COVID. And for most of those deaths, there was a nurse present.
The emotional toll, in particular, has been, as many nurses have said, "unbelievably hard and devasting."
Recently, the CBS Morning show gave us a revealing look inside the COVID unit of a Charleston, South Carolina hospital through the lens of a male nurse who used to be a newspaper photographer.
Witnessing the daily struggles and deaths of COVID patients over nearly two years -- most of them unvaccinated -- has taken a real toll on healthcare workers. He told CBS correspondent David Begnaud that "Nurses are broken now, emotionally!"

Mourning the victims of the Mayfield, KY tornado
The sounds of grief are echoing especially loudly across the small town of Mayfield, Kentucky today.
Upwards of 100 people were likely killed when a tornado ripped the candle factory they were working in to smithereens Friday night.
The husband of one of the probable victims shared his anguish with CNN....

It's as if the entire population of Denver, El Paso, or Detroit just vanished. Every man, woman and child -- gone forever!
Such has been the impact of COVID-19 on America. As of this posting, 680-thousand of our citizens have succumbed to the disease caused by the coronavirus.
Since the rollout of the three COVID vaccines, early this winter -- about 95% of the deaths by COVID have been among Americans not vaccinated.
Tuesday night, MSNBC's Brian Williams featured one recent COVID victim, a 24-year-old man from Billings, Montana.

While a clear majority (54%) of Americans recently polled said they support COVID vaccines for workers in the workplace, several Republican governors say they will vigorously oppose federal efforts to require that workers either be vaccinated or be tested weekly for COVID.

CDC WARNS AGAINST TAKING 'LIVESTOCK' DRUG TO FIGHT COVID!!!
Public Health officials say they find it concerning and confounding -- that some Americans who are refusing to take the 'free' COVID vaccine (a triumph of modern-day science) -- are instead paying up to $300 for the drug IVERMECTIN, typically used to de-worm horses and cattle.

WHY ARE SO MANY AMERICANS OPPOSED TO OR STILL HESITANT ABOUT THE COVID VACCINE???
Around one-third of eligible Americans still haven't had the free, readily available COVID-19 vaccine. With the explosion of the Delta variant, public health experts say what we have in America now is overwhelmingly "a pandemic of the unvaccinated."
Hospitals across the nation say more than 90% of their most seriously ill COVID patients are folks who haven't had the vaccine. About 97% of those dying from the virus haven't had the shot.
The New York Times sent a video crew to Mountain Home, Arkansas, in the Ozarks, to try and understand why about two-thirds of that area's residents still haven't gotten the vaccine.
Producer Max Stockton found that Mountain Home -- like the US as a whole — is caught in a tug of war between private liberty and public health. In this video piece, Stockton suggests that unless government upholds its duty to protect Americans, keeping the common good in mind, this may be a battle with no end.
COVID marches on across the U-S. The number of new daily infections is now over 130-thousand. And daily deaths are approaching 700.
The Delta variant is impacting children much more so than other variations of COVID. Meantime, the battle among Americans over mask and vaccine mandates is 'heating up!'
