2022! MORE LATER!

We love seeing our neighbors separating their loose debris from their bagged debris! Here are some examples of how vegetative debris should (and shouldn't) be presented for the upcoming October 10th pick-up.

Place your tree limbs, tree trunks, branches, and vegetation debris in a pile on your easement. DO NOT PLACE IN ROADWAYS (debris blocking traffic will result in a fine to the homeowner). Only vegetative items should be in this pile. If your pile is mixed with bulk items or garbage bags of leaves, it will not be picked up.

Bags of leaves should be saved for Waste Pro yard waste pickup later this month. Furniture, construction debris, and other building materials will be picked up later this month.

Thank you!

DeBary's annual stormwater fee is inching down - again. The fee of $170 per parcel on public roads is dropping to $160 for the next budget. The $85 fee for parcels on private roads is dropping to $80. This marks the second year of cuts for these fees, which pay for drainage improvements. The DeBary City Council unanimously agreed to cut the fees Wednesday night. Mayor Karen Chasez says the fees can be reduced because DeBary saved money by making the program more efficient.

DeBary snagged a $75,000 grant to develop a DeBary Town Center Transportation and Infrastructure Plan, Florida Gov Ron DeSantis announced Tuesday.
DeBary and other governments in Florida are sharing $1.5 million in planning grants. Volusia County snagged $75,000 to develop a draft Low Impact Development Ordinance and Guidebook for Volusia County.
“These awards will help communities across the state create plans for infrastructure improvements, create jobs, and strengthen their economic resiliency,” DeSantis said in a statement. “Ensuring the success of our state’s small and rural communities is at the heart of the work my administration carries out every day.”
DeBary is guiding the development of a mixed-use project north of the SunRail station that will feature the city's first main street.
The project calls for roughly 500 apartments and 290 townhomes on 50 acres north of SunRail and west of U.S. Highway 17-92. The first floor will offer retail and commercial space. The vision calls for converting the south end of Shell Road into a downtown-style main street for DeBary with public gathering spaces for concerts and other special events, along with restaurants and bars.

A call comes in. The caller ID says it’s Duke Energy. An urgent voice insists that your electric service will be disconnected in 30 minutes unless you pay over the phone right now. If you get a call like this, hang up – because it’s a scam.
