7:10 P.M. Update. Forecast is still on track for strong to severe thunderstorms this evening into the overnight hours. Current radar shows a host of tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings to our northwest. This will be our main event.

NWS Nashville believes we are looking at a 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM time frame for tonight's storms. All modes of severe weather will be possible! Have multiple ways to receive warnings.
Be able to be woken up and be ready to act if a warning is issued. I'll update as needed.

Good afternoon everyone. It's been an active afternoon and we are not finished just yet. The latest SPC outlook continues the Enhanced Risk-Level 3 of 5 for our area.

On a side note a Moderate Risk level 4 of 5 has been added just to our west and may shift eastward as the evening progresses. Only time will tell and we'll keep you update if that occurs.

Probabilities of severe weather occurring within 25 miles of a point are as follows.

Tornadoes: 10-14% with a 10% or greater probability of a significant tornado (EF2-EF5)

Damaging winds: 30-44% with a 10% or greater probability of significant wind gusts of 74+mph.

Hail: 15-29%

Stay weather aware this evening and into the overnight hours.
Have multiple ways to receive warnings and be ready to act if one is issued.

3:15 p.m. Lots going on at this moment on radar luckily nothing is severe around atm. That could easily change. Some of the storms that have been able to become severe have put down some very large hail and some damaging winds. Stay weather aware.

Through the next few hours, we will be watching the highlighted area. This includes Algood, Baxter, Cookeville, Monterey. Storms could intensify rapidly with damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding all possible.

* At 6:29 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles west of
Sparta, moving east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

6 P.M Algood, Baxter, Cookeville you're clear from the severe thunderstorms warning. However heavy rain and localized flooding still a concern. Monterey you remain under the severe thunderstorm warning until 6:30. However the line has just about pushed off to the east.

3:08 update. Good news we have not been added to the new tornado watch! At this time, other than the flash flood threat. There are no active severe weather watches or warnings for our area!

heavy rain continue to cause Flash Flooding across the warned
area.
As much as 2 to 3 inches of rain has fallen this evening,
with additional rainfall and intense rainfall rates expected
overnight.

8:26 AM Off to a wet start this morning. Today Showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 60'snear. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tonight Showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 50's. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

It's been quite weather wise for a while now. However, that's about to change. The @NWSSPC has placed our area under a severe weather risk for next Wednesday 2/28/23. It's not common to be highlighted seven days out. Right now all modes of severe weather will be possible. This forecast WILL change a number of times between now and Wednesday and I'll keep you updated. Now is a great time to refresh your severe weather safety plans and safe place.

Snow has really picked up in the last hour or so. We will continue to get snow activity for another hour or so before it finally starts to end.

Here is our winter wonderland at first light. It's currently in the teens across the area with light snowfall. More snow is on the way an additional 3 to 6" is possible for our area!

Roads are becoming hazardous. In another hour or so they will be worse. If you have to be out try getting home as soon as possible and drive with extreme caution.

Been showing the roads in Memphis for a minute now. Snow arrived in Nashville ohh about 40 minutes ago and here is what I-40@I-440 looks like.

Once snow starts i'd advise you to stay off the road. Here is a look at Memphis.
