By facilitating a conversation between community leaders and teachers, we hope to bridge the gap between the community and the classroom. Keeping teachers informed about how our leaders are addressing issues and opportunities in the community will help them use their skills and expertise to address those issues in our schools and classrooms and help maximize opportunities for all students. Open communication is vital for us to work together to make our community stronger, ensuring a bright future for our children.”
Our first conversation will include Superintendent Dr. David Lewis, Mayor Skip Henderson, Police Chief Freddie Blackmon and Sheriff Greg Countryman on our panel with Harvard Fellow, Akear Mewborn (Jordan Vocational) facilitating. Questions for the panelists will be solicited from teachers in the Muscogee County School District.

Columbus residents line up for COVID tests after health department moves to Civic Center
The Columbus Health Department has moved its COVID-19 testing to the Columbus Civic Center parking lot. Drive-thru testing is Mon-Fri, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and free. Testing is expected to return to the department’s Veterans Parkway location Jan. 14.
