For this National Geographic photo shoot, Angelina Jolie did not bathe for 3 days because bees are sensitive to smells and will not sting when the smell is too strong.

Thousands of bees were flying around the actor during the photo shoot.

The session was held in honor of World Bee Day, with Angelina Jolie posing with bees for 18 minutes... a noble and risky gesture to honor the insects that play a fundamental role in our nature.

WHEN YOU DIE, don't worry about your body... your relatives will do whatever is necessary according to their possibilities.
They will take your clothes off, wash you, dress you, take you out of your house and take you to your new address.
Many will come to your funeral to "say goodbye." Some will cancel commitments and even miss work to go to your funeral.
Your belongings, even what you didn't like to lend, will be sold, given away or burned.
Your keys, your tools, your books, your shoes, your clothes... And rest assured that the world will not stop to cry for you. The economy will continue.
In your job, you will be replaced. Someone with the same or better capabilities will take your place.
Your assets will go to your heirs.... And do not doubt that you will continue to be cited, judged, questioned and criticized for the small and great things you did in life.
People who knew you only by your appearance will say; Poor man or woman! o He or she had a great time!
Your sincere friends will cry for a few hours or a few days, but then they will return to laughter.
The "friends" who pulled you to partying will forget about you faster.
Your animals will get used to the new owner.
Your photos will hang on the wall or remain on a piece of furniture for a while, but then perhaps they will be stored at the bottom of a drawer. And we will only live in the memory of those who loved us.
Someone else will sit on your couch and eat at your table.
The deep pain in your house will last a week, two, a month, two, a year, two... Then you will be added to the memories and then, your story is over.
It ended up among people, it ended up here, it ended up in this world.
But begin your story in your new reality... in your life after death.
Your life where you couldn't move with the things from here because, when you left, they lost the value they had.

In your new life you will only need your spirit. And the value you have accumulated here will be the only fortune you will have there.
That fortune is the only one you will take with you and it is amassed during the time you are here. When you live a life of love for others and peace with your neighbors, you are amassing your spiritual fortune.
That's why try to live fully and be happy while you're here because, "From here you won't take what you have. You'll only take what you gave."

It's funny how a farmer spends countless hours getting the land ready, from disking all the way to planting. He spends $1000's of dollars on fuel, equipment, and repair bills. He spends many hours praying for rain or sunshine instead of sleeping. He sweats like no other job will make you. He works like most people wouldn't. He gets yelled at and cussed out by people who get caught behind the tractor traveling down the road, and he spends many times of the day wondering if it's worth it! The deer, coyotes, hogs, c***s, gophers, grasshoppers are just a few pests to contend with!! He does all of this for what??? Ask yourself, "Why would he do that?" The answers are all around you. The plate of food sitting in front of you, the clothes on your back, the shoes on your feet, and the last answer is the one that puzzles most people. It's the dust, love for agriculture, and the satisfaction of knowing he had done his part at the end of the day! I'd like to thank all the farmers out there who help make the world go round!

A young Kurt Russell worked together with Charles Bronson. During shooting, Russell found out it was Charles Bronson’s birthday. So he got his older co-star a gift. Bronson looked at it, took it… then walked out of the room, without saying a word. Russell was terrified, worried he had insulted the man.
A little while later, Russell was called to the dressing room of Bronson. Bronson was silent, looked down and said to the child actor: “No one has ever given me a birthday gift before…” Charles Bronson was the son of dirt poor immigrants. He had fourteen siblings, and worked in the mines as a child. Never finished schooling, never had a kind word, he was worked like a mule since the day he learned to walk.
Charles Bronson hadn’t known a lot of kindness in his life. It caught him off guard to receive some from his young co-star. He later gave Russell a skateboard on his own birthday to play with between takes. The two men remained lifelong friends!

This is not funny but very touching story.
Todays Kleenex Moment
I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas.
I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.
"Hello Barry, how are you today?" "H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good." "They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?" "Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time."
"Good. Anything I can help you with?""No, Sir. Jus' admirin' them peas." "Would you like take some home?" asked Mr. Miller. "No, Sir. Got nuthin' to pay for 'em with."
"Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?" "All I got's my prize marble here." "Is that right? Let me see it" said Miller. "Here 'tis. She's a dandy." "I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue, and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?" the store owner asked. "Not zackley but almost."
"Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble," Mr. Miller told the boy. "Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller."
Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, "There are two other boys like him in town, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store."
I left the store, smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.
Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and, while I was there, learned that Mr. Miller had died. They were having his visitation that evening and, knowing my friends wanted to go, I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary, we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.
Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two had nice haircuts, wore dark suits and white shirts... all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket.
Her misty light-blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.
Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.
"Those three young men who just left were those boys. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim "traded" them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size... they came to pay their debt."
"We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world," she confided, "but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho."
With loving gentleness, she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shined red marbles.
We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles. A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself. An unexpected phone call from an old friend. Green stoplights on your way to work. The fastest line at the grocery store. A good sing-along song on the radio. Your keys found right where you left them.
Never be in way too much of a hurry to even notice the ordinary miracles when they occur.

In the bustling streets of Paris in the year 1945, a French woman named Marie embarked on a journey that would soon become a story whispered among the locals. With her trusty baguette tucked under her arm and six bottles of wine clinking in her basket, Marie set out to navigate the post-war city.
Amidst the rubble and remnants of a turbulent time, Marie's spirit remained unyielding. The war had taken its toll on the city, but the resilience of its people refused to waver. Marie, with her baguette as a symbol of strength and survival, was determined to bring a taste of normalcy back to Paris.
As she walked through the narrow cobblestone streets, Marie encountered fellow Parisians who had endured the hardships of war. With a warm smile and a kind word, she shared her baguette and a glass of wine with those she met along the way. In the midst of despair, Marie's simple acts of generosity served as a reminder that humanity could still find solace in the simplest of pleasures.
Word of Marie's baguette and wine offerings spread throughout the city, and soon, people from all walks of life sought her out. The aroma of freshly baked bread and the clinking of wine bottles became a beacon of hope for a community yearning for healing.
With each passing day, the atmosphere in Paris began to shift. The war had scarred the city, but Marie's baguette and wine became a symbol of unity and resilience. The streets once filled with anguish and sorrow now echoed with laughter and shared moments of joy.
Marie's act of kindness and her baguette became a legend in the city of love. The story of the French woman with her baguette and six bottles of wine spread far and wide, inspiring others to find their own ways to heal and rebuild.
Even after the scars of war had faded, Marie continued her tradition, sharing her baguette and wine with those in need. Her generosity became a symbol of the indomitable spirit of the people of Paris, a testament to their ability to rise above adversity.
And so, the story of Marie, the French woman with her baguette and six bottles of wine, Paris, 1945, lives on as a reminder that even in the darkest of times, love, kindness, and the simple pleasures of life have the power to heal and unite.

07/02/2024

In 1964, Harrison Ford moved to Hollywood to become an actor.

“But I arrived on a metaphoric bus full of people who had the same ambition,” he said.

So he came up with this plan to prevail over the competition:

As Ford spent time around the other aspiring actors on that metaphoric bus, he became aware of something:

Most of them were in a hurry.

They were in a hurry to “make it” or to make lots of money or to prove something to someone.

Whatever the reason, most were on a tight timeline.

So Ford's plan was to do the opposite: to lengthen his timeline.

To do so, Ford said, "I had to have another source of income. So I became a carpenter."

“By doing carpentry," he explained, "I was able to wait it out.

And as the years went by, the attrition rate eliminated many of those people from the competition pool until finally, there were only a few of us left on the bus from that entering class.

I always saw life that way—you just have to find a way to stick it out, to prevail.”

Takeaway 1:

Ford chose carpentry for two reasons.

First...when he first moved to Hollywood, he taught himself the basic carpentry skills needed to fix up his dilapidated house. He was immediately attracted to the process of fixing things, calling it "a form of meditation."

Second...he thought—since Hollywood is an everybody-knows-everybody kind of town—a carpentry job could lead to an acting job.

Indeed.

Ford became known as the "carpenter to the stars." His roster of clients included Francis Ford Coppola, James Caan, Richard Dreyfuss, and Joan Didion.

Most famously, in the early 1970s, Ford was building "an elaborate portico entrance" at Coppola's offices where Coppola's friend, George Lucas, was leading casting meetings for Star Wars.

One day, Ford said, “I was asked by George if I would read with the other actors. There was no indication that I might be considered for a part in the film."

"I read with about 300 actors and weeks later, they asked me if I wanted to play Han Solo."

Takeaway 2:

Ford's “stick it out” strategy is a civilian version of what military strategists refer to as "winning through attrition."

In a study of the major wars that shaped the course of history, the strategist and historian B.H. Liddell Hart found that only 2% of battles were won as a result of a direct attack.

The majority of successful armies throughout history, Hart writes, all had the “power of endurance to last.”

As Ford put it, "You just have to find a way to stick it out, to prevail.”

Lengthen your timeline …

… It always takes longer than you think it’s going to take.

The richest man in China said, “If you put the bananas and money in front of the monkeys, the monkeys will choose bananas because the monkeys don't know that money can buy a lot of bananas.

In fact, if you offer WORK and BUSINESS to people, they will choose to WORK because most people don't know that a BUSINESS can make more MONEY than a salary.

One of the reasons the poor are poor is because the poor are not trained to recognize the entrepreneurial opportunity.

They spend a lot of time in school and what they learn in school is to work for a salary instead of working for themselves.

Profit is better than wages because wages can support you, but profits can make you a fortune.

Nikolay Bogdanov-Belsky's painting "At the School Doors," created in 1897, is a poignant portrayal of the educational aspirations and challenges faced by rural children in late 19th-century Russia. The painting, also known as "At the Door of the School," depicts a young boy standing hesitantly at the entrance of a classroom. Dressed in worn clothes and carrying a shoulder bag and a wooden stick, the boy represents the many children from humble backgrounds who yearned for an education.

The boy's posture and expression, although his face is turned away from the viewer, convey a mix of apprehension and hope as he gazes at the diligent students inside the classroom. The detailed background, featuring a school board, a map, and the bowed heads of students, emphasizes the educational setting and the boy's longing to be part of it.

Bogdanov-Belsky's use of light and color, with a palette dominated by yellows and browns, enhances the warmth and realism of the scene. The painting reflects the artist's personal experiences and his empathy for the peasant children, as Bogdanov-Belsky himself once stood at the door of a rural school, dreaming of an education despite his modest origins.

Location of the painting: State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.

the Cape Town–Port Elizabeth Railway service. James “Jumper” Wide had been known for jumping between railcars until an accident where he fell and lost both of his legs. To assist in performing his duties, Wide purchased a chacma baboon in 1881, and trained him to push his wheelchair and to operate the railways signals under supervision.
Jack was put in charge of the coal yard keys and also did the station’s gardening, until Wide learned that the baboon was skilled at operating signals. Jack learned each lever by name and was able to push them into position when a train approached at Uitenhage station. Wide would hold up one or two fingers (as a signal to the animal) and Jack would then pull the correct lever. Finally, Jack needed no instructions from his master and he really knew which lever to operate for each approaching train. Although the baboon was always under the eye of his master James Wide, Jack never made a mistake or required telling twice.

the jaguar, it has unusually strong jaws for a cat; the jaguar is able to bite the skull of even a fairly large animal, or chew the shell of an armadillo or turtle.🐢🐢 The jaguar protects its territory, The area is usually triangular in shape, and the animal regularly patrols its boundaries. Nowadays, the largest cat in the Western Hemisphere is listed in the Red Book and is protected. But shooting jaguars (albeit limited) is still allowed in a number of Latin American countries. Including for the trophy! That is, divine cats are still killed today simply because a rich trophy hunter (and there are simply no poor people among them, this is not a hobby for such people) wanted to hang a beautiful skin on the wall! There is only one consolation: despite all its calmness towards people, the jaguar is still able to fight back even with a modern "leather stocking" with an optical sight. And it can be difficult to see it in the thickets, even through such a perspective - the spirit of the forest, after all ...

While I was waiting this police officer pulled up, got out of his car to help this little boy out. I believe he missed his bus and this police officer picked him up, drove him to school, helped him out of the car, then bent down to tie his shoes then walked him in. I had to capture this moment, especially with all the negativity with police officers going around. How amazing is this to see? I didn't get this officers name, but I felt I needed to share so the world can see that not all police officers are bad."

Por-Bazhin Fortress: A mysterious structure on a remote island in Tuva, Russia

Only the ruins of this fortress remain, but they raise a lot of questions among archaeologists and researchers. Por-Bazhin means "clay house" in Tuvan.

The fortress is located on a small island in the middle of the Tere-Khol mountain lake, which is difficult to reach, even today. Its waters are considered sacred by the locals.

Nevertheless, a description of this place can be found by the Siberian explorer Semyon Remezov in 1701: "The old stone city, two walls are intact, two walls have collapsed and we don't know which city it is." At the end of the 19th century, ethnographer Dmitry Clements began studying the island, which Soviet scientists then continued. The ruins formed a clear rectangle with a labyrinth of streets inside. There was a palace complex with columns, the foundations of which are perfectly preserved. That the fortress was very old was beyond doubt. At the same time, it seemed as if its inhabitants had simply disappeared, as no human burials could be found.

But, who built the fortress, so atypical for this area, and what happened to its inhabitants? One of the most widespread versions is that Por Bazhin was built in the 8th-9th centuries by Uyghurs and there was no lake at all back then. It appeared as a result of an earthquake, which forced the Uyghurs to leave the fortress.

I refrain from taking him to the beach for a walk because it disrupts your vacation; you prohibit me from renting a house if I have a dog, and he's not allowed on urban public transport. Nevertheless, I can bring him to sift through rubble after an earthquake, search for you in the forest when you're lost in the mountains without a map or GPS, join you under the snow for forbidden off-piste adventures, and even accompany you in the water despite the red flag when posted signs advise against swimming. You gladly welcome him when you need his support, but not when it's inconvenient for you. After all….” it is just a dog”….
Think again, people. Dogs are better than most humans, they’re kinder, more loyal, love unconditionally and appreciate you no matter whether you deserve it or not. ❤️
