I always thought “they have the coolest job in the world.” I got in trouble in school all the time for talking. I wanted to make people laugh, and I was considered a jabber jaw by my parents. When I was 10 or 11, my mom won a radio contest. We got to go to our local radio station and record a commercial for a local restaurant called The Shack. I barely remember the experience, but when I got my fi

rst radio job, my mom said “do you remember what you told me when we did that commercial? You said ‘this is what I want to do when I grow up.’” When I was 19, I auditioned to be on a morning show for a new station, The Wolf 102.3. I got through a few rounds, but was not chosen. At that point, I thought that radio was a pipe dream. It was years later that my big break came. I did an interview at Magic 98.5 (now 98.5 WOMG) with TJ McKay, and when I told him I wanted to be in radio, he offered me a job. Here I am, years later, and I still have a huge passion for local radio.
