It’s not every day that a small town gets to be the backdrop for a motion picture but Carrollton did just that for several weeks this summer.

Carroll County and its Camp Kysoc Park served as the site for an upcoming horror/science-fiction movie called ‘Marshmallow.’ Local production of the film was in May and June of this summer and the process has moved to editing with a release date yet to be determined.

It’s not every day that a small town gets to be the backdrop for a motion picture but Carrollton did just that for several weeks this summer.

Traffic Alert Interstate 71 in Carroll County

“CARROLLTON, Ky. (07/28/2023) – At this time due to an ongoing investigation near the 47 mile marker of the northbound lanes of Interstate 71 traffic is being diverted off at the Carrollton exit, exit 44. If motorists traveling north attempt to get off at exit 43 they will not be able to get to Carrollton due to the Prestonville bridge being closed. The estimated time of Interstate 71 being closed is approximately 2 hours.”

A host of bills passed during the legislative session earlier this year took effect yesterday (June 29), among them the legalization of medical ma*****na, sports wagering at horse racing tracks and the phase out of the bourbon barrel tax.

Lawmakers also passed a ban on gray machines and a battalion of bills on public schools, some of which spurred intense deliberations.

A male and five females were caught on a surveillance camera during vandalism at Carrollton’s Point Park last Saturday and one of the six suspects has been identified and detained.

Speaking at a Carrollton City Council meeting on Monday, June 26, Mayor Robb Adams said the vandalism took place at Point Park shortly after midnight on Saturday. Based on surveillance footage from the park’s cameras, “we know exactly who it is,” Adams said.
