Well, we did it, friends, listeners, readers and ... others! Thank you for helping me, keep on sending listeners my way, and we'll see if it's all worth it.

Turns out YouTube has "standards." That might not be a problem, but my content can be a little ... well, offensive. I mean, it involves killing, cursing, su***de, a bit of dismemberment, and anything else that I managed to make up to scare you or make you laugh.

Hopefully they can put all that in context - I mean, if Stephen King's The Outsider were on here, it would get a lot of listeners, but begins with the brutal murder of a young boy - so we'd be in the same boat. We'll see if AI kicks me out, or if advertisers figure, "What the hell?"

In honor of the great men and boys who sacrificed nearly everything, here's a great novel by Ken Follett, detailing the roles of some amazing women during World War II. They were known as Jackdaws. Never heard of them? You should have.

The camera has a dark past. The evil that seeped into its mechanisms manifests itself in ways only Jack Hunger and Wayne Olsen can understand. But that's only because they're familiar with the darkness, and how to fight it. Others who encounter its subjects haven't a clue what they are about to face.

I'd like to start by wishing my wife, Linda, a very happy Mother's Day. While she and I never had a lil' sprig of our own, she did bring Mark Lyon into my life, which resulted in Sarah and Allyson, the former a mother herself two times over and the latter with one in the oven (Woo hoo!). Happy Mother's Day to the lot of you!

NOT to mention Mark and Katie having Beau, a beautiful baby boy who is currently bringing lots of joy to them and the entire family. So Happy Mother's Day to Katie, too. May all of you be spoiled on this special day.

Last, Happy Mother's Day to my late mom, who died on April 23, 2021. I won't say "Mom In heaven" because she was adamantly atheist, which I respect. She had a rough time of it, but kicked ass nonetheless. Good job, mom. If you hadn't taken that tumble in your kitchen, I have no doubt we'd still be arguing politics between hugs even still.

Then there's my late sister, Janice, who stumbled on many occasions of her too-short life, but did manage to have Tiffani, Eden, Danielle and Sean, thus making the world a better place. Happy Mother's Day to all three of her daughters for being fantastic moms to their beautiful kids.

My brother Gary is the reason I became a writer, but probably the reason I also wrote a lot of poetry as a kid. He wrote poetry from a young age. Gary died in a one-room North Hollywood apartment with a shared bathroom in 1999 after just reconciling with the family, from which he alienated himself often through his actions and inability to get along with others.

Gary had issues from a very young age, possibly brought on by our father's abrupt death in 1964. If you were to read a biography of my brother's life written by my mom back in 1969 when Gary was just 13 years old (she wrote it by order of the juvenile court) you would see his crooked path through a short life began at a young age.

Here's a poem I found in my box of junk today, written by Gary when he was 38, just three years before his death in 1999. He called it, "Untitled, or ("What'cha Been Doing, Gary?")

Some artists pass with little fanfare. (Not Shane - not in the UK)

Shane MacGowan of The Pogues deserved more fanfare I never even heard of his passing until this morning, and he died on November 30th.

So, because The Caloosa River Band does this fine tune, I shall post the lyrics in his honor. RIP, Shane.
