My name is Brent Stark, and I am running for re-election to the Buna ISD Board of Trustees. I have been a member of the school board for twelve years and president for two years. My family and I have lived in Buna for sixteen years, and I am the owner of Integrity Elevator Solutions.

Amber Milstead Stark, my wife, has lived in Buna for the majority of her life, attended Buna ISD for all of her education, and she is the daughter of Bro. Delbert and Kathy Milstead. Amber and I have been married for twenty years. She is an RN, who presently works for Olive Branch Hospice in Jasper as the Volunteer/ Bereavement Co-Ordinator.

Amber and I have raised two sons in this district — Kyler who graduated last May and Kolten who is a freshman. Just as I have been involved in many of the organizations in our community, our two sons have been involved in many different educational and sporting activities.

I have seen first-hand how the educational system works as thirteen members of my family are educators, from paraprofessionals to teachers to athletic directors to superintendent. My mother-in-law was a teacher in BISD for twenty years teaching HS English.

I understand how education and educators contribute to the development of students for the rest of their lives. Some of my greatest lessons learned were from my elementary teachers who instilled self-control and self-discipline in me.

To work with other BISD Board of Trustees and the Superintendent remains my highest priority as our district continues with exceptional goals and standards. I am willing to discuss any topics that are brought to my attention, and I would love the opportunity to continue to earn your vote.

A message from Cody Goins:
As you all know, early voting has been in process for a few days now. I am currently seeking your vote to be elected to the Buna ISD School Board.

I was born and raised right here in this great town and am grateful to be raising my children here as well. I proudly graduated from Buna High School in 2006. My wife Kristyn and I currently have two children, ages 9 and 5, attending Buna Elementary. Soon, our youngest who is currently 3, will be attending there as well.

I can't sit here and promise you that change will happen if elected, no one can. All I can promise, is that I will always actively listen to your concerns and attempt to be your voice of reason whenever possible. I will always strive to do what’s best for our educators, students and community as a whole.

I remember 25 years ago, and knew every teacher that taught my parents. I was proud to be in classes that taught them. Most of those teachers have since retired, but instilled so much knowledge into their students. Teachers that didn’t live in Buna, and drove here every day. They could’ve left for another district or more money. Everytime, when I asked them why they didn’t…they would respond, it’s Buna! Not just the students they were teaching, but the community as a whole. They felt like they were part of the district. Times may have changed, but it seems as if Buna ISD is being used as a stepping stone for many educators.

My goal, if elected, is to work with our community, district leaders, school employees and board members in hopes of giving our educators the best tools possible, to secure the best possible future education. I’m not a business owner, but it seems our district has turned in to a company, where educators can get a couple years experience, and move to the next position. We need to stand behind our teachers and administration.

If you have any specific questions or concerns about me, feel free to contact me.

A mesage from Kevin Gomez:
For those of you who do not know me as well as some do, I’m no politician. I don’t always have the right words to say. I can’t promise you that if I’m elected to the Buna ISD Board of Trustees that certain things will happen. That simply wouldn’t be the truth. What I can promise is this:

1. I will always have the best interest of our students and staff in mind when making any decision.
2. I’ll be transparent. Just ask the question, and you will always get a straight answer from me, even if it may not be what you want to hear.
3. I’ll ask questions. Everything should be questioned. There’s always a “why”!
4. I’ll listen. I’ll always be interested in hearing out others.

To those I’ve had conversations with, I hope that I’ve earned your vote! To those I have not had the chance to talk with, I want to have the opportunity to do that in the next couple of weeks. I’d love the opportunity to earn your vote! If you have anything you would like to ask, please message me! Early voting starts October 24th, and Election Day is November 8th. Go vote!

Calvin Welch, a Buna graduate, is showing his first feature film on Friday at 6:00pm at the Jefferson Theater in Beaumont. He filmed last summer and has been editing since. He has entered numerous film festivals and is now doing limited screenings. The film is called Anglerfish, and Calvin would be elated to have the support of the community!

From Matt Buchanan:
I am seeking re-election to the Buna ISD school board and am asking for your vote. There are several respected men running this year and you are able to vote for up to 3 individuals.

It has been my honor to serve these last 4 years on the Board of Trustees representing my own sons, your children, our families involved within the district, and the entire community. I have endeavored to consistently meet with our administration individually, visit campuses, talk to and poll our teachers on topics that are important to them. If you reached out to me by phone, email, or in-person, I take those encounters personally and try to seek answers. My interest is in the protection and promotion of Buna, TX, not necessarily what the rest of the state would have us do.

Over the past years I have been involved in many different facets of community life including teaching Sunday School at FBC Buna to high school students, coaching within Buna Little League, volunteering with Buna Youth Football League, and feel I can best continue to support our community by bringing my collaboration, business and management skills to our Buna Board of Trustees

Please reach out if you have questions for me. I hope to earn your vote and look forward to the promise and future performance of Buna ISD within our local community and beyond. Early voting has already begun.

My name is Russell DeLome, and I am seeking your vote for Buna Independent School District Board of Trustee.
I have proudly lived in the District for approximately 52 years. My mother drove a Buna ISD school bus for 28 years. My wife of 36 years worked at Buna ISD for 22 years. My children were both actively involved students, and graduates of the district. I currently have grandchildren who attend at this time.
I am a 1984 Buna ISD graduate. I went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Panalo Jr. College, and a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Kinesiology from Lamar University, where I also obtained my certification to teach Industrial Technology and Special Education.
I was employed at Buna ISD for 14 Years as a PE teacher, Industrial Techology teacher, Football coach, as well as Head Baseball coach. I was blessed with bringing the Drafting program back into the District curriculum. I was honored with the task of Designing and Coordinating the Build of the Current Cougar baseball field.
The past 18 years I have been the Manager of Like New Automotive; family owned and operated since 1977 by Ross Talmadge.
My intentions are to protect Buna ISD Students and Staff from dangers, and pressures of the outside world that continually try to creep in.
I realize that policies and procedures are important and are vital for a school district to run smoothly.
I feel my job as a School Board Trustee, is to Listen, Learn, Question, and Act in the best interest of our Students, Staff, and Buna Tax Payers.
If I have not met you, please feel free to contact me, and I’ll do my best to answer your questions.
Please do your homework, in order to make an educated and informed vote.
God Bless You, Buna, Texas, and America.

Sincerely,
Russell DeLome
