From a simple conversation at work, Donna Gatti and I planted the seed that would grow into our annual backpack giveaway. What began as a small effort has blossomed into something truly special, thanks to the continued dedication of Donna Gatti, Breanna Gatti, Deb Heigl, Marjorie Marasco, and Nicole Abruzzino. We are honored to work with such good-hearted people who share our mission to support these children. Special thanks to Kriz, whose idea to dress up as a mascot not only added joy to our event but also sparked the creation of a wonderful company, KZ Characters who is now flourishing with so many different characters to bring joy into our community! We remain humble and grateful for this journey together and to always remember THE MISSION. In honor of my little brother Christian Portes, we will always remember to SAVE OUR CHILDREN! ENGLISH: I wrote this song in honor of my Abuela
(👵🏾 grandma)
You see, my grandma suffered from schizophrenia & One day we were having a conversation about why she never re married, my whole life I only knew her and not my grandfather so I never saw my grandma happy with a man and I was curious. Her mental health didn’t allow her to move on from her first marriage.
She couldn’t picture her self with another man. That relationship, that betrayal, she couldn’t get passed it. It broke her entire heart and she told me “until I had grandkids” she spoke about how much we filled that void.

My grandma has since passed away but something compelled me to write this song. Almost like her heart came to me and allowed me to feel every single thing she felt and this is what I created.

I hope you guys enjoy “que me está pasando?” As much as I enjoyed writing it.

RIP Abuela 👵🏾. I hope you know that you were loved beyond words and still are.

SPANISH: Escribí esta canción en honor a mi abuela.

Verás, mi abuela sufría de esquizofrenia y un día estábamos teniendo una conversación sobre por qué nunca se casó, toda mi vida solo la conocí a ella y no a mi abuelo, así que nunca vi a mi abuela feliz con un hombre y tenía curiosidad. Su salud mental no le permitió seguir adelante con su primer matrimonio.

No podía imaginarse a sí misma con otro hombre. Esa relación, esa traición, no pudo superarla. Le rompió todo el corazón y me dijo que "hasta que tuve nietos", habló de lo mucho que llenamos ese vacío.

Mi abuela ha fallecido desde entonces, pero algo me obligó a escribir esta canción. Casi como si su corazón viniera a mí y me permitiera sentir cada cosa que ella sentía y esto es lo que creí.

Espero que disfrutéis de "que me está pasando?" Por mucho que disfruté escribiéndolo.

Our back to school event is in Honor of Christian Portes, my little brother who was murder by gun violence on the west side of Buffalo at the young age of 14.

Every year my family gets together and WITH THE HELP OF OUR COMMUNITY we collect donations and out of our pockets provide children in the neighborhood backpacks 🎒 full of supplies, toys, hot dogs 🌭 and hair cuts. We also have entertainment and activities for the children provide by Donna Gatti and for the first year Talia Rodriguez and Her son AJ! KZ Characters provides us with professional costumes!

We couldn’t do this without donations since we do not have ANY SPONSORS FROM THE CITY OR STATE OR AGENCIES.

Hungie Recordz would love to thank Draghi Burgos Construction for there donations towards the go fund as well as these backpacks 🎒 coming in soon… that’s 34 backpacks TOTAL full of supplies! 💪🏽💪🏽 our goal is 500!
