Reid and Jacobson win May 28 runoff election
In an upset in Tuesday's run-off election, David Doc Reid, defeated incumbent Wayne Shaw, for Brown County Commissioner Precinct 3 by only two votes – 344-342. Shaw, who served 12 years, had the lead 183 to 164 in early voting, but in the final tally, Reid reigned victorious and with no Democratic opponent will be the lone candidate on the ballot in November.
In a five-way race on March 5, Shaw tallied the most votes with 708 or 43.78 percent of the vote to Reid's 308 or 19.67 percent of the vote, which was not the 50 percent needed to win and resulted in the run-off.
Reid will take office in January alongside Kirk Chastain, who defeated incumbent Gary Worley in the Precinct 1 Commissioner's race in the March 5 Primary.
Mitchell Jacobson defeated Dustin Larremore in the Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 race with 198 votes to 137, or 59.1 percent to 40.9 percent.
On March 5, Jacobson received 570 votes, or 36.94% of the vote, to Larremore’s 522 votes, or 33.83%, which resulted in the runoff

Afternoon and Evening...

Scattered severe thunderstorms will develop along a cold front
across the Big Country early this afternoon. The storms will move
southeast across the remainder of west central Texas during the
afternoon to along the I-10 corridor by early evening. The
initial severe storms will have the potential to produce very
large hail, larger than golf ball size, and isolated tornadoes.
Then damaging winds will become more of a hazard as the storms
congeal into a few complexes. Keep up with the latest weather
information and have many ways of receiving warnings.
