It's New Music Friday!
Let's talk about imperfection, because there is no such thing as perfect.
Yet, we live in a world where we are being forced into believe perfection exists.
LinkedIn prompts me to rewrite a post with AI. Because AI will make it perfect.
The music industry can compress and enhance a vocalist's voice so it's pitch perfect. Mine, in this video, is not.
Today, I humbly present to you my perfectly, imperfect version of Evergreen that was sung by, the close to perfect, Barbra Streisand.
I chose to learn this song because I'm fascinated with the songwriting of the 1970's. IMHO, one of the greatest decades to the songwriting craft. Moving baselines against the chordal structure enhances the tonality...and makes the playing and singing simultaneously that much harder.
Sometimes you have to embrace a little imperfection. I'm no Barbra, but I hope you enjoy my perfectly, imperfect take.
My musicals tribute continues with my singer-songwriter rendition of Evergreen from A Star is Born. IMHO, the greatest of the all the versions of this movie....
