My band, the Ben Cartha Fowler Project, is playing a live/all ages show this coming Saturday 11/9 at 6pm!

There's a new record store downtown called WalkOver, at 122 N Walnut Street. We play there starting between 6-630. $5, all ages. Flier included here.

We are now the proud owners of two Oktava ML-16's. These lookers are from 1968 (orange sorbet) and 1969 (pistachio sorbet, had this one for a couple of years). Figure 8 Ribbon mics from the USSR. They sound amazing as drum overheads, and on guitar cabinets and saxes, and on *some* vocalists. We love the coloration they give to the snare and hi-hats. There's something really beautiful about figure 8 ribbons as drum overheads, we've been after this sound a long time! Thank you SAAS/Mike Bridavsky!

Honored to set up our Ludwig's for Daniel Villarreal at the Orbit Room tonight. We've really been enjoying his recent International Anthem releases, Panama 77 and Lados B; these are 1973 silver sparkle's with a brass on brass millennium edition snare. Sets tonight at 7 and 9:30, $25, all ages.

newest record is nominated for a Grammy/best Latin jazz album. Pretty awesome!!

We understand that Google Maps is guiding people to JSMS incorrectly these days; You should drive West on 11th through the construction, and then right onto Fountain. Then, left into our parking lot.

It doesn't work to get here from 17th to crescent to Fountain drive, for the time being.

JSMS is providing the drumset and bass amp backline for today's Block Rocker! Pearl Masters Studio Birch with a Yamaha Steel Shell Snare, along with a Fender Bassman 100. Lots of great bands from 5-11pm, culminating in a set by Chicago's Lowdown Brass Band!

JSMS recently had the honor of donating a drum set to a middle school-age drummer who is just getting his start with music. This complete Yamaha kit came from Fowler's ex-drum student John J., who wanted to see his drums go to a good home. Happy practicing, Josiah!"
