The Gateway to The Driftless organization and the Cross Plains, Black Earth and Mazomanie Libraries have partnered on an activity to get area kids out and exploring the many natural resources, like parks and conservancies, in the Black Earth Creek watershed.

The second time was the charm for Fire on the River as the once-cancelled festival made a triumphant return just a month after high water stood in its way. Fire on the River was cancelled just days before its scheduled start last month due to record high levels on the Wisconsin River.

At their July 10 meeting, the Black Earth Village Board all but completed allocating the nearly $1.2 million dollars in GO Note spending they had been discussing for the better part of the year.
On July 30th kids in Black Earth and Mazomanie were treated to James the Magician courtesy of the second summer recreation activity hosted by the local police. 35 kids attended the event and had a great time.

In the wake of the 2020 Presidential Election where Donald Trump lost the State of Wisconsin by 20,000 votes a lawsuit was filed primarily against the Wisconsin Elections Commission challenging the guidance at that point allowing ballot drop boxes.

A male suspect is at large and presumed armed in the Baraboo area after being sighted by a Sauk Prairie police officer at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday night, July 23rd. The officer attempted a traffic stop on a red minivan in their jurisdiction for a possible intoxicated driver.
