We had the immensely talented Budd Greenman in for an incredible session. Vintage fiddle and a Gibson J50 from the 40's(I think)... the best acoustic I've heard. Budd put down some incredible performances. We close mic'd his fiddle and acoustic with the Slate Digital ML-1 and then put on some sexy mic models and the 1073 model. Stereo room recorded for some natural depth. We panned the fiddle right and panned the room 50/100 to the right. The acoustic panned left and its room 100/50 to the left gave the track some satisfying dimension. The sound is beautiful and bold.

The remote workflows are getting even better and better.

We had the pleasure to have the members of Michigan Soul Tribe with Shelly Marsac in for some tracking. Sterling(drums) and Jack(bass) finished laying down exceptional rhythm tracks to previously recorded guitar and vocal tracks. Not a "traditional" way of recording but very effective when schedules conflict or studio time is limited. Michael and Shelly share the vocal duties for the song. It is a great song with excellent vocals and performances by the players!
It was another great day at Magic City!

We had another great tracking session yesterday for bass and guitar. Quality instruments and gear are essential for less "fixing it in the mix." Gibson Fender Jensen Speakers Hartke HOG bassist Troy Baldwin put in the lowend that will keep the earthquake monitoring stations busy for a while. 🤘🏼
Guitarist for Paul Kwant brought in the candy. We went out from his Fuchs Audio Technology which was only the 2nd time we've heard this amp and it was not disappointing, AGAIN. The amp has both "M-style" AND channels. It is an effective 50 watts and when cranked, which is what we did, you can get those desirable soaring lead tones and when we backed of the pre-amp and drove the output section, for rhythm tracks, it was a thing of beauty. It even has a "boost" function but we didn't even need to tap into that. Bone crunching tone assisted by Warm Audio designed API style mic-pres, dynamic and ribbon mics and a PRS Guitars in Paul's capable hands. We also ran a cab IR/load box from but the in-house vintage Marshall Amplification 4x12 cab got the win.
All in all both sessions were great!

We are so grateful to the folks over at Tonebender Shop for helping get one of our custom shop TB P-Bass upgraded with these Seymour Duncan pick-ups! These bass guitars from them at Tonebender Shop are what we call Fender Killers!
