The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch today, Thursday, August 29 from 3 p.m. to midnight in our region due to heavy rainfall expected during the evening hours. A possible two to four inches of rain in a short period of time could pose flash flooding risks in low-lying areas and along waterways. The public is asked to monitor the weather and be aware of risks in flood-prone areas.

Public Assistance Wanted: The Morgan County Sheriff's Office continues to help a local family look for a 15 year old Berkeley Springs girl who has been missing from her father's home on Fairvew Drive since late on Friday, August 2. Sheriff Bohrer said Angel Turner has no phone or digital devices, but is believed to have taken clothing and belongings with her. Police are concerned because of the lack of contact and a tip that Turner may have been sighted getting into a vehicle with a male driver. Anyone with video footage of the Fairview Drive area showing any unusual activity or information about Turner's whereabouts is asked to contact Morgan County WV E911 at their Non-Emergency line 304-258-0305.

Multiple fire companies are on the scene of a brush & woods fire behind Widmyer Elementary. Nearby residents report hearing a loud boom and losing power around the time the fire was reported to authorities.

West Virginia Highway officials have announced that POWERHOUSE ROAD in Great Cacapon will close this coming Monday, July 22 for three weeks to allow for a bridge deck replacement. Local DOH staff said they will release additional details soon about where the closure will begin & end, and how it will affect a public stream access and subdivision access on that road.

BURLINGTON, WV – Cacapon Dam Road, County Route 9/12, in Morgan County, will be closed 24 hours a day beginning on Monday, July 22, 2024, through August 9, 2024, to allow for bridge deck replacement. Signs will be in place to warn motorists. Exact schedule is weather dependent.
