On February 4, 1987, I remember holding my 9-pound baby boy for the first time and looking into his beautiful navy blue eyes. I had never felt that kind of love before, and I never would’ve imagined that 34 years later, I would be visiting him in prison. In fact, I don’t think a mother ever looks into her baby’s eyes for the first time and imagines that. However, for me, that is reality. In the book Navigating Prison from the Outside, I will share many practical things from the first time you realize they are going to prison until they get to their home unit, as well as the emotions you will go through. I will also share some practical ways to successfully survive the emotions, as well as flourish in your new normal. With God, you will not fail. And your child will not fail. In fact, they can become everything God intended for them to be while being behind bars.

Motherhood is My Ministry was birthed out of a call from the Lord after Amy’s daughter found out she was expecting. Amy has a desire for all moms to know that being a mom is more than changing diapers and wiping noses. It is a calling on one’s life given by God for disciplining the next generation. God can and will use motherhood to stretch and grow your faith and trust in Him. Our goal as moms is not to raise the next professional athlete, Beethoven, but to raise disciples. So, much of motherhood is about remembering and reminding ourselves that our children belong to God. He has entrusted your child into your care.
