We want to say a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our new Dr. Bisilki! Dr. Bisilki completed his thesis defense yesterday afternoon and went from Mr. Bisilki to Dr. Bisilki! We can't be more proud of you for this achievement!

Isaac holds a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in Public Relations from the University of Ghana, Master of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, and now holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies at the University of Oregon.

Isaac is the 2022 winner of the prestigious Don Bartholomew Award for Excellence in Public Relations Research and the 2021 Second Prize Winner of the Jack Koten Page Principles Case Study Award by the Arthur W. Page Society, USA. He also received a best paper award at an AEJMC conference and a top scholar award for highest graduate student ranking at the University of Oregon.

As an applied Public Relations teacher-scholar, Isaac’s passion is sharing with his undergraduate students the nuggets of real world PR practices and challenges and ways of navigating these challenges as entry-level professionals.

As a Public Relations professional, Isaac’s career spans over ten years in the PR industry in Ghana, with a blend of experience in government and education sectors, as well as in PR agencies. He was a Senior Public Relations Officer at the Accra Technical University, the Ghana Prisons Service, and a fellow at Ketchum, USA.

The event will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Communication Building Room 103 on the campus of Lamar University at 5:30 pm.
“Creative Conversations in Communication and Media” features discussions with alumni, content creators, filmmakers, and media professionals who have achieved success in the communication and media industry.

Keilah Baaheth was on a panel titled: UHC (Undergraduate Honors Conference): Rhetorical Analyses of Popular Culture last week at the 94th Annual Southern States Communication Association Convention in Frisco, Texas.

Keilah's presentation was over the Genre Criticism of the Rapper NF and his Association with the Christian Hip-Hop Genre.
